#Phase_Failure_Relay (#PFR) is a #safety_relay that operates automatically, and is designed to be used for the #electrical_safety of 3 phase machines.
These are used to protect electric motors against faults on the #3_phase network, and will detect the loss of a phase, #phase_sequence_change, or even #voltage_imbalance between the phases.
If any of these events occur, the PFR will remove power from the control circuit, stopping the motor and protecting it from damage.
The installation of a PFR on an #electrical_circuit, and its operation are illustrated here with fine animation work.
