David Gilmour is guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd, but is also renowned for his solo work. David's guitar playing, singing and songwriting became major factors of Pink Floyd's worldwide success, including The Dark Side Of The Moon, the third most successful album of all time. David was voted 'Best Fender Guitar Player Ever' in a poll in Guitarist magazine.

David has released five solo albums, his first 'David Gilmour' in 1978, charting in the UK and the US. His second 'About Face' was released in 1984, again hitting the Top 20 in the UK. Album number three, 'On An Island', entered the UK Charts at Number 1 and was multi-platinum around the world. 'Rattle That Lock' was released in 2015 and went to Number 1 in 13 charts worldwide and Number 2 in a further eight.

Gilmour's fifth solo album 'Luck and Strange' was released in September 2024 and hit #1 in the UK, Germany (his first #1 there), Poland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Portugal and Austria.

On an Island is nothing short of a masterpiece, but this particular song is very personal for me. I actually had it play at my wedding.

I saw the man himself for the first time last week in Royal Albert Hall. I had to travel a whole continent, but it was very much worth it. It was an almost ethereal feeling seeing him play live. I even got to touch one of the PF balloons during the solo in High Hopes.

The point is that David has touched my life in ways I could not previously think possible. I continue to live my life guided by his music. Thank you for everything David!

It was August 15, 1969, I was almost five years old, and I heard Pink Floyd for the first time. That Friday afternoon my babysitter's 16 year old son let me hang out with him for a bit. We went upstairs, he closed the door to his room, hit some light that reflected off the posters on his walls and put on some Floyd. I can't tell you what songs, but it was new to me and I liked it. It was probably the first time I ever got high--it was mighty cloudy in that room for a bit. Then we went downstairs to the kitchen where he grabbed some food, stole some money from his mother's purse and took off for Woodstock. I've been a Floyd fan my whole life. Thanks for the intro Dino!

Sir David I really do hope that you realize that not only do you have fans from all over the world but everyone of us listen to every word you sing and every note you play and every sound that may be out of the ordinary but we'll placed on purpose that we true fans listen for and expect and we want and we all believe that you are so for ahead of you time, I'm sorry I'm not sure where I'm even going with this but it's like you know what we want to hear but I guess what I'm getting at is don't ever stop cause there is no other person or band that we can go to, to hear music or sounds like you play.
