Vega-C rocket lifts off from Kourou to carry Sentinel-1C satellite into orbit

The launch marks the return to flight for #Vega-C, Europe’s lightweight, high-performance rocket – aiming to further secure Europe’s autonomy in space after the successful launch of #Ariane 6 last summer.
Vega-C stands 35 m tall, 5 m taller than the first-generation #Vega rocket.
It is due on Thursday, to carry the #Sentinel-1C, a radar-imaging satellite for the #Copernicus Earth science program, into orbit.
The mission is due to extend the Sentinel-1's legacy, delivering radar imagery to monitor Earth’s changing environment to support a diverse range of applications and scientific research, according to the European #Space Agency.
