This has probably already been mentioned: In Captain Marvel, Fury tells Carol that everyone calls him Fury. “Everybody calls me Fury. Not Nicholas. Not Joseph. Not Nick. Just Fury”.

In the Infinity War post-credit scene, Maria Hill yells “Nick, Nick!” as they crash into the car in front of them, so that adds a little more suspicion.

Huge fan of your channel, definitely underrated, keep up the amazing work!

the sandwich thing from ultron always bothered me post far from home because similar to tony’s funeral i would like to think that it was actually nick fury showing up at hawkeye’s house to help tony / the avengers and he didn’t send talons cause he was “too busy”

Although retcons usually help the MCU with world building, I don't think that this is the direction that Marvel's going in. I'm sure Nick Fury and Maria Hill were their real selves all the way until after Tony Stark's funeral. The narrative doesn't really require Fury being replaced in Age of Ultron, and it just makes more sense for him and Hill to really be blipped. We'll definitely find out when Secret Invasion starts airing, because the Far From Home twist definitely has some explaining to do. Keep up the good work on your research and videos!

Let me say - The editing has really stepped up on this vid! Really liked the clips and I feel like they added a lot. Looks great!

In my opinion, I think the switch happened after Tony's Funeral. I just think it takes a bit away from the moment if Nick himself isn't in attendance at the funeral and I hope that he hasn't been a skrull for too long. Either way, secret invasion hype is strong!!

I remember that in captain marvel how Fury said (or joked) that everybody calls him Fury: “my mum calls me Fury” and then in infinity war Maria calls Fury, Nick. But then at the same time I think it would have made more sense that Fury would have been the one to say “MotherF-“ rather than Talos. I also really liked your point about Hill. It would definitely be a mind-frick to find out that she was a skrull the whole time, but at the same time it would make sense, other than how well she was trained (like a shield agent) with having no backstory. It would also make sense, like you said, for Fury to have gone off world ever since shield fell, and I think that would be my favourite explanation. I guess we will all find out in Secret Invasion. Great video and keep up the great work! ❤

As I’ve said many times, secret invasion is my most anticipated series

Another thing about Maria and Fury possibly being Skrulls in Infinity War is that Maria calls him Nick before dusting

I think he went to space after the winter soldier and since then he only came back once to attend Iron man's funeral

one instance that it could make sense for Maria Hill to have been a scroll-

In The Winter Soldier, she sneaks into the hydra van and helps Cap and company escape. So having shape changing ability would help. But with the helmets, I'm not sure that it matters all that much.

This is a very good question! Glad the topic got its own dedicated video. Personally, I think that it was after Winter Soldier and then we see Talos start impersonating Nick Fury in Age of Ultron.

Cannot wait for Secret Invasion to see what Marvel does! Hopefully a lot of questions are answered! 😁

I really like Fury's final dialogue with Coulson in that Agents of SHIELD Season 1 finale:

Fury: "...I'm trading in my bird's-eye view for two solid feet on the ground. This is the last time you'll be seeing me for a stretch."

Coulson: "You're gonna disappear, nowhere to be found."

Fury: "Nowhere? You know me better than that, Phil. I'll be everywhere."

To me that's the perfect thing to say to indicate that you're going to have doppelgangers of yourself running around while you monitor the entire planet from space. Obviously that wasn't the intention when the line was written, but it fits really well to me.

I've also heard it said that even though it's a popular theory that Fury cuts his sandwich diagonally in Age of Ultron, it's actually a horizontal cut. Rewatching the scene it seems pretty inconclusive to me and could go either way. (Plus it looks more like a piece of bread than a sandwich; he says he can't eat a sandwich cut diagonally, but does the same apply to bread?) Either way, when he holds up the bread later on, it looks fairly rectangular with a rounded edge on one end which makes me lean slightly more towards the horizontal cut interpretation though you might could still make that shape with a diagonal cut.

I think it's a more interesting story if Talos has been Fury longer and gives Fury more time in space to work on that operation, but if Talos was only ever impersonating Fury in Far From Home, I guess that would be fine. It's definitely an interesting question though, and I thank you for walking us through it!

Hey! I also think that the most obvious way to go is to make Fury "depart" to space right after the fall of SHIELD. I mean, there was hardly anything left to do on Earth for the Agents at that point, even the show went to the stars soon after.

I wanted to thank you for your awesome videos. I just love how you're a fan and do that work of searching and analyzing for us. I personally love watching these before going to bed. You're a great guy, thanks again for those awesome videos

4:54 Erik Voss from New Rockstars said that Nick Fury cut the bread horizontally, not diagonally, if you look real close at the bread after he had cut it.
Personally, I think Nick Fury and others had quietly left Earth because of "matters he had to attend to", some time after Age of Ultron and before Civil War because that could properly explain why he wasn't in Civil War or even mentioned or referenced to. For context, in the Avengers compound at the end of Age of Ultron, there were numerous agents, soldiers, scientists, technicians, and doctors operating there. But in Ant-Man, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, it seemed as if only the Avengers were there.

I think that maybe it was Talos at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier because Nick Fury was very badly injured in that room when he was pronounced dead. That serum from Banner might have just been to get the doctors to stop so he could go to space and get fixed. That's when he sent Talos down to finish the job. I'm reaching on this one though lol. Great video once again!

Great video 🙂 I always wondered about the scene in Winter Soldier when Fury is hiding out at Cap's apartment with the loud 40s music. He mentions, to Cap's surprise, that he is married. I always wondered if Talos had slipped out of character for a sec. Nick having a wife is never mentioned again. We then find out Clint has a family in AoU. 🤷 I'm just a fan with open arms, I'll take whatever Marvel gives us 😉

It makes sense Fury going to space after the fall of Shield and for Talos stay in Earth to pretend be him, but I really hope it was him in Tony funeral. Maybe the 1 year thing could be proof that Fury came back to the funeral and then went to space again. Really anxious for Secret invasion!

If Maria Hill doesn't exist, that's huge. She would be like Ravona from the TVA, just a regular woman who has a copy/variant elsewhere with big responsabilities.

The first MCU series that I don’t know what to expect, so many great theories in this video, I’m glad that we’ll only have to wait a couple months to watch this!
