Hi Dean, is there a way to set Alerts on Hostpools, where when a specific number of session in the HP is reached it throws an Alert?

How would this work for host pools with VMs being added/removed fairly regularly? Would you have to go in and enable Azure Monitor on each of them?

I do see opportunities to include that step in your VM deployment templates, but it would be nice to have that done automatically based on any session host in a particular Host Pool, or by resource group, etc.

Wishing for a Policy to report and auto setup the logging for each pool.

We had a RDInfra update run on our personal pools over the weekend crashing the termservice.exe and all VMs went to a status of unavailable and users were not able to login. Do you know of any way to monitor the status of the host?

With the cost of laptop ever dropping. Even with a WVD, i will still need a physical laptop. As compared to Azure file services, where i can eliminate my physical on premises server. What is the main advantages of having a WVD as compared to my physical laptop?

Thanks for the great Video, I am running 2 Pools of 100+80 Machines in dedicated session host (some software works only in single machine enviornment) I need to find how to automate the Start and Stop of my dedicated sessions hosts. For example if a user is logged out for 30 minutes the VM should shut and when the user tries to login, the VM should start. As of now I have manually created start and shut script in Azure automation as per user shift timings but it requires regular changes as the user shift changes every week. Is it possible as of now in WVD to configure auto start/shut of VMs like its availabe in Vmware horizon ?

Thanks a lot for such an Amazing video. We are planning for moving our VDI into cloud. So in that regard we wanted to check how efficiently we can use these options as an replacement of Director. Want to know if there is any way we can do force logoff or disconnect of any sessions.

thanks for the great video and i have once question ..how can we set alerts for session host unavailable? bcoz most of time`s in production we see suddenly the session host go to unavailable..may be due to RD boot loader went down/SXS issue/URL unable to access/ or some other we set any alert from log analytics query which check session host agent status and send email to user ?

Hi Dean. Can you make a video on how we can use the Alerts feature on monitoring to create alert mechanism for the WVD sessions host to trigger alerts(CPU, Memory etc. utilization ) to specific emails or create ITSM tickets. Also if we can define some corrective actions

Dean thanks for another great video! Are you please able to share the query you wrote for how long it took the users to log on please?

Thanks Dean, another awesome video. Does this solution assume that the Log analytics workspace and WVD resources are in the same subscription and RG? We have a centralised log analytics workspace, in its own subscription and when setting up the workbook I can choose the subscription and Log Analytics Workspace, but not the RG, host pool or WVD Hosts.

Another great video, happy Monday, Dean.
My lab environment is built on FTE host pool + VS AAD, so I guess I am not able to use this, since it pulls diagnostic data from both WVD metadata and Host VMs.

Dean I kindly request you to cover Azure monitor for wvd by sepago, and also how to work with WVD admin tool, and also with E5 license we can use Windows Advanced treat protection. When you have time kindly cover these.

Thanks Dean!
Do you think that a 3rd party solution - specifically sepago Azure Monitor for WVD - is now redundant, or do they still offer a benefit on top of the workbook provided by Microsoft? I am setting up sepago right now and I'm looking forward to get insights into the CPU usage of each process. I feel like this could be done without sepago aswell, but it just saves so much time.
