I was an ex service man myself, and have carried out Guard duties, though not in the same way as the Royal guards. But I think the public should be kept well away from the Guard at all times, and anyone who tries to embarrass or humiliate them should be arrested, or a on the spot fine, the Guards do a fantastic job and should not be subjected to such embarrassment at any time.

I'm from the USA and I have the deepest respect for the Royal Guard. With that said I'm amazed at the disrespect they endure. The horses too. They certainly have more patience than I would have. Bravo soldiers! God bless.

Can't tolerate anyone behaving in a mocking manner. Respect should be preserved.

I DON'T understand the people who harass the Royal Guard. Their job is hard enough without having to deal with idiots

I honestly can't believe how tolerant the Royal Guards are. I think it should be absolutely illegal to mess with them. They should be allowed to physically handle anyone who messes with them, just to get the situation over with instead of having to tolerate someone for who knows how long. It has to be distracting for one. If there was an actual threat, they may miss some signs because they have some jerk jumping around in their face. Anyone who does this should be immediately arrested and fined.

I cannot understand why anyone would like to embarrass or harass a Royal Guard. They have a difficult job standing at attention for hours. If a tourist wants a photo taken with a guard, the tourist can stand about 3 metres away from the guard & not infringe on the space if the guard. We need to show respect for the guards. God bless the guards. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺

Although the Queen has passed, that remark saying the Queen is not a total jerk is uncalled for and very disrespectful.Think before you speak

These guards and sentries are real military guards. There weapons are real and they are literally guarding their posts. Please show some respect.
Don't touch, don't grab the weapons, obey the signs. The Royal Guards in Britain, the US sentries at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier, the Mounties guarding Canadian Cenotaph, and many guards around the world deserve respect. Behave. They put their lives on the line for you.

I am a Royal Marine met friends in London and we ended up at Horse Guards seen tourists making fun of the mounted soldiers, Police standing doing nothing. I went quietly over to two guys told them quietly to F*** off, one turn said who do you think you are I told them and they left without a word. The mounted Soldiers has to handle a horse and stop it from charging into the crowds it isn't easy when you have assholes who think their funny. I agree they should be fined on the spot for harrassment fine up to £1000.00 on the spot they'll think twice of doing it again.

I'm an American. If I ever visit Great Britain and I visit London I will hold these guards in the same respect that I would show the guard of the Unknown Soldier in America. I wouldn't photograph them and would keep a very respectful distance.

The woman with the gun is so lucky she did not end up dead. It, s amazing how the public behave towards our military and should be taught a lesson.

I'm an American, and I'm horrified that so many Americans harass the Royal Guard. They're just doing their job, leave them the hell alone!

I was an MP at His Majesty the Kings Guard (HMKG) during my service in the armed forces of Norway. I allready had my stripes but in order to fully be a Guards member I had to do some actual guard service at the Royal Castle. They're service are calling for strict military rules and are regulated by civilian law and yes they're rifles are fully loaded. We even had extra magazines in the belt as a part of the guards uniform. These days I have seen them with earpeaces so they are in contact with the guard shack. This duty is hard work, especially during summer when tourists are flooding the erea. They where all waiting for us to drop the rifle or having a fall on icey conditions during winter. I enjoyed the service and miss the army. To all you guardsmen out there - I thank you for your service. Stay safe.

As an American, I've always admired the discipline the Royal Gaurd has shown. (Ive only seen it from the internet) They deserve much more respect than the mockery alot of tourists give them.

The Guards are considered an extension of Her Majesty The Queen, so what you do to them, is considered doing to her. That' is why you are not allowed to touch them, that is why they do NOT move for people, people move for them.

They are not "basically" a military organisation. They ARE a military organisation. These are ACTUAL soldiers, and have been on operations such as Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. They have fought and died on these operations. They are not a special unit that only does this role. They are soldiers first.

In the late 50s my mother, sister and I were in London. We saw a guard patrolling a short, almost alley-like gated lane well away from any other guarded or busy area. Straight up and down the left sidewalk. When he saw us stop to watch him, he angled his march so he could stop right behind us to turn around. He paused just long enough for Mother to take a photo with us girls in front of him, then went back to his usual path. I was 6 and still remember this friendly move. They do a wonderful job that must require endless patience. Just wish I still had the photo!

I will always respect the Royal Guard. What people dont understand is they are the best soldiers and warriors of the country. Thats why they tell the police and everyone else what to do. I bet the Queen had such a sweet personality. She knew what was going on and that probably gave her more of a headache than all the other things she had to attend to for the day.
