Willy, 15 minutes into training the new kid:

“HOW HARD IS IT TO LEARN 35 YEARS EXPERIENCE?!”

A 28yr old hasn't missed a day of work in 34 years. I can confirm this sounds like a legit indeed resume.

Old you looks like he has been running that shop single handedly since he was 12.😂

I mean, Willy has a point; Terry sounds like he’s the kind to tell you to use a board stretcher with a left-handed crowbar while he sucks on your smokes.

One of my technicians just turned 83. Man moves like hes still 60 though. I love working with him. Hes gonna retire this year. Gonna miss that old man. Hes grouchy, funny, and doesnt take any shit, but still willing to learn new things. Said hed shoot me if I named the maintenance shop after him when hes gone though.

Poor Willy, they are about to fire him as soon as the new guy learns the job.

This is 100% right on point. Go through this every time I bring in a new guy.

Pretty ironic as I was Bobby a long time ago and had Willie yelling at me my first week of on the job training and now after nearly 30 years at the same job, I am now Willie, but biting my tongue trying not to sound like him. The only difference is, my employer doesn't ask what I think of prospective new hires, they just expect me to train them. Time flies and the winds of change are blowing by.

I worked with a guy like this named Billy. He’d complain every day and sometimes get fightin mad over it; the key was take him when he’s fightin mad and push him a little further over the edge and it kinda had a reverse effect where he was okay after that.

Remind me of the days I was the young blood in the group. You definitely have to earn that respect

At the end when you realize he's the only other employee in the entire shop.

I'm in the opposite situation. When I took over my boss's job, they kept saying "you need to tell us what you need to get trucks unloaded".

I kept repeating myself, "I need Joe off truck, I need two leads, one for softlines fold and one for hardlines, I don't want any minors because they can't show up early (legal reasons), and I need someone to throw the truck".

I said that for two months. Eight months later, I still have Joe, I only have one lead, and I'm throwing the truck because we have no one else to work the trucks. I'm the goddamned supervisor overseeing the unloading of the trucks, but I still can't get the help I need.

I finally gave up telling them what I need, I'll just do it myself like I always do.
