Hello! Welcome to the 4th episode of Comfort Stitching. In this video I share an exciting channel milestone, my current works in progress, and some updates on what I've learned (and not learned) about the "Bridget Power 1840" sampler that I've been working on. I'll show you my most commonly used tools, some stitchy kindness, as well as some stash enhancement, and I round things out by reading a short passage from a journal written by the Trappist monk,Thomas Merton. Thanks so much for watching!

Music sourced from Epidemic Sound.

Please don’t ever apologize for taking us along on your history journeys. For me, this is the reason I stitch. The connection to a work someone else has created, especially those from a different time or place, provides a special meaning. I stitch so this form of history is preserved.

Jackie, I'm from Londonderry in Northern Ireland and I know that the Power family, of which there are many branches were a very wealthy, well connected family in the 18th and 19th century. I feel certain that you are right that Bridget was not from a lower class family. From the first time I saw this sampler, I thought that she must be connected to the wealthy Powers. I love your Flosstube and look forward to each one ❤

Oh my, what a wonderful episode this has been. With the wonderful strawberry pack from Floralegum and your adorable acorn to your beautiful stitching and research on its history. Your passion for your stitching shines through in each episode. The variety you included in this episode shows how much thought you put into your flosstubes and I would like to tell you how much this is appreciated. Your mindfulness meditation was the perfect ending and will remain with me for sure. These words touched my heart and gave words to what I have felt but not been able to put the words to myself. Since a diagnosis of leukemia turned my world upside down, this is often how I have felt but without the words to describe it. I now have the words 😊 Thankyou

Thank you for sharing your time and talents. I love the acorn and the leaf needle book. I am making needle books, yo, yo’s for a quilt, putting together a hexagon quilt and stitching a cross stitch by Lori Holt. I am a monogamous stitcher when it comes to needlework. Love the velvet strawberry. My son has planted several kinds of strawberries this year, I had no idea there are so many different kinds of strawberries. I’m 67 and learn so many new things each day, we’re never too old to learn something new or historical! Love your YouTube videos. ❤

My favorite fruit is strawberry 🍓 I appreciate all of the research and information. When my second child (at 15) was diagnosed with cancer, I learned and was constantly reminded that we would never have this day, this moment again. He is now 36 and I’ll still appreciate every moment

What a wonderful way to start my Sunday
This day will never come again is so profound
I’ve learned to stop the busyness and take a moment

My dear friend who died too young shared this during her last week on earth
Stop….make a memory of this moment as you travel through life
It will sustain you during the hard times and bring great joy

So I try to make a memory each day
Whether it’s the blossoming of a flower the rain as it travels down the rain chain
Giggles of my grandchildren
The dawn of a new day
A vivid sunset

So thank you for the memory

I am absolutely loving your floss tubes. You have a gift and thank you so much for sharing your stitching! Don't ever think you are spending too much time on the history or the unknown. I too find myself thinking about the person who originally stitched a sampler. Its such a joy to sit and watch your videos. Strawberry

Thank you for sharing all that you have learned in your search of the Bridgette Power Sampler. My ancestry is from Ireland and it was so special to hear about what you have learned in your search. There are so many things I love about your floss tube, I love the meditations, I love learning form you, I love the calmness that I feel when I listen. It is a joy to join in with you and stitch. It's also joy to eat a strawberry. Thank You!

A dear friend led me to your floss tube channel, and I am so happy she did. I will definitely be going back to watch your other video's. The name of your channel is spot on, you have a very calming effect on me and I really enjoy being inspired by you. I collect strawberry pin keeps. They are such a traditional piece to any sewing kit. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I look forward to watching you again soon.

I have very much enjoyed your videos. I’m an old guy but a newbie to cross stitch - now midway through my third project - but some health problems have slowed my progress. Hoping for more good days when counting is a tad more reliable. I found your hunt for Bridget Power really intriguing, and the summary of the items you use when stitching had me making notes. Thank you for four excellent flosstubes and I look forward to more.

Thank You, for sharing ALL your insight with us. I so enjoy your flosstube videos. As I have messaged you previously, I feel a parallel journey with you. Not just that we grew up close to each other on that stateline boarder, but love for art, cross stitch, color and finding time to be present with our own self being. Thank you! The strawberry pinkeep looks beautiful as do your acorn and leaves. Happy Stitching. ♥️🪡🧵☮️

Jackie, thank you for sharing all the details of Bridgette. I loved hearing all you have and have not learned about her origin and how you feel connected to her though you do not know her. Your ending of the video was very moving. This day will never come again. So simple to say yet so deeply felt when pondered. Thank you. You have such a sweet soul. ❤
