I was in Al Quds at Al Aqsa in 1997 during Ramadan. Israeli police were heavy. Even though I showed my Jerusalem birth certificate and American passport (I'm Palestinian from East Jerusalem) I was still assaulted by an Israeli police officer. I was struck in the knee with his baton for standing curbside waiting for a cab.

It was evening time Laylut Al Qadr, and for the days before and after, many people sleep in the square/yard around the Old City. I slept there the night before that happened. There's no place else like the whole of Palestine, not just Jerusalem. That's a place you can feel its holiness. 🇵🇸🇵🇸
