Why is it that differentiating r=x/cos(theta) gives dr/dx = 1/cos(theta), but when you differentiate r^2 = x^2 + y^2, you get dr/dx=cos(theta)?

There is a correction in step2 : instead of ø=tan^-1(y/x) its ø=arctan(y/x)

But great efforts... thanks for making such videos.
