We have three cats and five litter boxes scattered around. Each cat has their prefered litter box.

I have 4 cats and 4 litter boxes. One cat has her own room at night when it's time for me to go to bed, so in her room she has her litter box and food (not next to the litter box). The other 3 litter boxes are in the laundry room. When l do laundry we move one litter box into another room so the washer and dryer are not disrupting their routine. When the three boxes are in the laundry room, all the cats seem just fine, no issues. Once in a while one of my cats gets diarrhea but that's a separate issue but will still use the litter box, no problem.
