Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, some say, paid lip service to the two voting rights bills on Thursday. Despite co-sponsoring the voting rights bill named in honor of John Lewis, her dead set opposition to changing the filibuster ensures that both bills are going nowhere. Joy Reid and her panel discuss the threat to our democracy.

Fun
The longest filibuster in U.S history was 24 hours and 18 minutes done
by democrats trying to stop the Civil Rights Act.

I don't understand how it's a violation of my rights for my county to know that I am who I say I am and that I'm a legal citizen of this country in order to vote.
Still waiting for these "voting rights experts" to clear that up.

That has got to be the most bogus headline I've ever seen.

I’m Hispanic. I’m in Arizona and we’re doing fine. These people are way out of reach. Good job do your job and do not fall in line. You Need an ID to get on a plane you should need an ID to vote.

Didn't the Voting experts say the 2020 election was the fairest and cleanest in history and nobody should ever question it. Now it needs to quickly overhauled and make make major changes by just the DEM party?

you need a voter ID to rent a car, apply for welfare, etc, but voting isn't important enough to require an ID ? Even super liberal european countries require an ID to vote. The goal is to ensure election integrity, not the opposite.

Voting for Sinema was a mistake, I will do all I can to get her voted out. She has been nothing but a hindrance.

Last year's election was so secure you're not even allowed to discuss it in America

Remove the mandate on ID for cars, tobacco, alcohol, obtaining a job, collecting SSI benefits, or collecting large winnings on lottery.

So, let me get this straight. I have to show my ID when I want to buy a six-pack, but SOMEHOW it's a violation of my rights when I have to show it to VOTE? These people are CRAZY!

We have too many psychopaths in politics now. It's just like professions where child abusers gather to work. We should seriously find a way to put in a full physical and mental health evaluation for our politicians. They control our lives so should have to go through more checking than I do when applying at Home Depot!!!

"Voting Rights" means reducing the security of the voting process, IE making it easier to commit voter fraud, not making it easier to vote. If you care about YOUR vote, do not be fooled by the flowery rhetoric.

"despite being undercut by a member of his own party". At least one democrat remembers who they were elected to represent. The people. Not the party.

"GOP Plotting Next Coup" Funny how they say "next" which is a tacit admission that one has already occurred.

Here's all you need to know about voting rights: Who can vote: Any American Citizen who is of legal age (18 years) and still living. Every American gets only ONE vote and must be able to prove who they are to vote. Voter ID is NOT the issue, even the poorest of people have to have a Government ID to get government assistance so that excuse is easily proved a lie.

First of all, voting rights have been the law in this country since 1965. For those you that think that math is racist, that's 55 years.
In those 55 years, NOT A SINGLE LAWSUIT has been filed. Not a single person had their vote "suppressed" enough to file a lawsuit.
Second, president Brandon had been the Senator of Delaware for OVER FORTY YEARS and never once tried to implement these voting rules.
