Nobody wants to give up distance from the tee but this common driver fault is costing golfers valuable distance every time they tee it up.

In this video I discuss the most common driver fault that I see and show how it could be costing you over 70yds in distance from the tee, the good news however, it's easy to fix.

So if you feel that you struggle with this common driver fault then watch as I run through some simple steps to get you hitting the driver longer and more consistently that ever

My club head cover is in the middle of the driving range, any idea how to get it back?

Ditto Darryl Parkinson's comments. This is one of the best instructional videos I've ever seen. Period. Short. Concise. Specific. Data points that jump out at the viewer. A gain of 70+ yards by hitting 6 degrees up on the ball instead of 6 down. So clear in the data. My Garmin R10 has been showing me with a consistent -2.5 downward strike on my drives. I thot the R10 was not measuring my swing correctly. For the past 40 years, I've thot I was hitting up on my drives. Not. You've show me precisely why I can't even hit my drives 200 yards (I'm 81, so I'm not expecting tour-level performance). You've shown me precisely what I need to work on and how to work on it. Splendid video. Splendid.

I like the little exercise you use. A lot of
sites tell you to hit up on the ball but none of them tell you how to achieve the correct path and angle to do that.

Awesome explanation of path versus attack angle. Moe Norman always started away from the tee just like your drill. This does work, and everyone should be aware that your stance will change with regard to a new ball flight. Awesome video. Thank you, Joe.

Chris, just want to say thanks for all the work and effort you put in each video. You are a brilliant tutor and you're really helping us all out here. Thank you

Hey, I took this tip straight to the course and the last 3 days have been my best driving days of the year. All season long I would carry 190 to 210 and this trick brought those distances to between 230 and 250. I had no idea that launching my driver at double the height would give me such a big increase. Now all I need is actual practice which I think will increase that carry distance even more. So great tips!!!

Great 'info vid', Chris. Major props! If I may make a supplemental, added suggestion to all golfers of amateur / weekend status ... and that is to MAKE SURE you're arms are not extended at the location of your initial address. If you extend your arms even a bit early, you'll not be striking 'through' the golf ball. You'll be striking up a smidge early, thus putting top spin on the ball which will defeat the purpose of this video lesson. MAKE SURE your arms extend just to the left of your left shoe. In this way your impact will be on a upward path & THROUGH the ball.
All this for nought if you fail to get to your left side before impact, of course. My students do wonderfully when they fully understand this very important concept. Keep up the great work, Chris!

Tried this Sunday, 20-50 yards gain straight, playing partner said it’s a game changer for you, best driver tip I’ve tried. Legend 👌

Chris. I will work on improving my "Attack Angle." I have been golfing since 1993 and was successful in getting my "Hsndicap" down to a 10 many years ago. I am now 66 years old, but have maintained good flexibility. I have never been long off the Tee Box averaging 220 yards carry. Thank you.

Fantastic video, great to have a simple drill to try rather than remembering something technical which will be challenging to apply.

Best Tip for Golfing I have seen in a long time. So easy to deploy and very repeatable. This has helped my driver to be one of the most consistent clubs in my bag.
Thank You Chris!

Thank You! Finally made sense (to me) that ball speed can be almost the same yet is distance so dependent on attack angle and dynamic loft. I need to work on my swing path!

For quite a long time now I have believed that the main focus for me (HI 17) in my quest to hit the ball further should be on working on quality of contact and optimising launch conditions rather than just trying to swing faster. This video is a great demonstration of that. Thanks.

Bingo. It took me a day to get this right and it is amazing. Working on consistancy with super results.
Many thanx Mr. Ryan

Finally I was able to hit up on the driver. Wow it feels great. I used to tee off about 180-200 (carry and not much rolling, too much backspin). With able to hit up, it gone up to like 230-249, with rolling up to 288!

Great explanation of the dynamics of hitting the driver.
It explains why out of the clear blue, I would hit a ball much longer than normal. And why I couldn’t repeat it, at will.
Thanks

You have the best driver drills. I like the one hitting over the headcover in front as well. Still working on dialing back my hook but it certainly helped my carry. Thanks!

Not sure how the physics works but moving the driver back 1ft-2ft from the ball has cured my slice. The extra distance of 30-40yds, in winter golf, was a bonus. I would include "Fix a Slice" in the header of video to get more hits. Best video I have utilised in years.

Great tip Chris. I literally drag my driver back along the grass on my takeaway, I’ll try your tip next.
