This is an encouraging video because I'm actually 62 and after a long career in nursing I am studying for my CPC certification. I sure do hope that my age does not factor into getting hired as a coder because I am not ready to retire! Thank you Bleu for sharing your wisdom.

I’m 60 and just started coding when I was 58. I love it! I tell people who ask me about when I am planning to retire and I tell them if I keep enjoying this job, I don’t want to retire. I was a CT tech for 30 years and this is a great way to still enjoy physiology/disease without the holidays/call/hurting yourself.

Age is just a number. It’s astounding how we limit ourselves needlessly and how society views people over a certain age. I learned Zumba from an 80+ y/o instructor who’s well into her 90’s now and she’s still teaching.

I'll chime in here too as a 54 yo woman! I enjoy your motivational videos and the face that you read our comments, take them to heart and speak to our concerns so often. I signed up with AAPC after a long stint as a stay at home mom raising my kiddos. I'm not too old. Age sneaks up on you but I don't think most ppl feel their age as they age! Over the years, I have helped families with elderly loved ones in nursing homes and I learned a lot medically, but I also learned not to waste my life and take chances! No one ever has it all figured out and everyone has fears but you have to TRY and TRY AGAIN and pretty soon, you will surprise yourself and be so satisfied and happy you went for it! The satisfaction that you accomplished a goal is worth any of the set backs in the end! Good luck to all my peers out there who are pushing forward!

I appreciate this video because I'm 51 and have been considering all this and many other things. I really want to learn this. It looks all so interesting and fun. I do love reading and have all of my adult life. Especially, trying to figure out cases or like mystery stuff so I'm not sure but I see that there's many different pathways to go if one area doesn't work out. That's a huge plus. At this point in my life I think learning something new would be a great challenge for me and keep my brain sharp. I guess my biggest struggle is my eyesight. It's not the best as it is. I'm hoping that with technology and ways to adjust things that it will work out fine.

It's New Years Day, and I am starting the medical coding program at our tech school in 23 days. I just turned 60 and am terrified, but this video came to me exactly when I needed it. Thank you. ♡

I am 46, and I came across your channel, because I want to learn by self studying. I have already done the first step, and now I am on number 2, learning Anatomy. Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank you for this, it give me much more confidence. I'm 56 and just received my CPC-A last December. I've applied to 50+ companies with a long list of rejections. My interview skills are very lacking, but after 3 interviews with Zoom and Teams I'm getting the hang of it.

Thanks for sharing...I can honestly can say that I have staying power. I was 56 years old when I decided 4 year ago to studying for my CPC certification. Taking a lot of things in consideration surrounding my life, medical coding is the best option for me. I am noticing that the AAPC does have a abundance of tools and information to help me pass my exam!💙

Hi Bleu - I am retired and so bored, staying at home and not working. I worked at a hospital for years, as an insurance liaison for the hospital. I loved the coding department. I am watching all the videos on coding and want to become a coder. I am 72. A YOUNG 72 I might add, and not ready to throw in the towel. I'm pretty adept on the computer and have a wonderful support system here at home. I am not too old. I am going to do this. I may be the oldest coding student but I think I will love it. Thank you for your wonderful video! Hugs, Jeanie

I just turned 44. I have 20 years experience working in several specialty offices, Health information departments, ED front desk & Trauma in Hospitals in the NYC, Pittsburgh, And Hudson Valley, NY areas. I took a Medical billing & coding class as part of the Medical office assistant program i took in the early 2000s and aced the class, But never pursued anything in the coding field. Medical coding stayed on my mind since. And i'm going to say it, The medical office field has changed so much during the pandemic, It's not for me anymore. I brought my books and i'm now ready to learn, But had some reservations starting in my 40s. Thank you for this video.
