The dumbest thing the Jedi could’ve ever done was build a temple on top of a Sith shrine

Palpatine wasn't the first sith to mask his presence. Darth Zannah- apprentice to Darth Bane was a master of hiding her presence.she literally walked into the jedi temple, wandered around their archives, even engaged with their librarian. .

Palpatine had the ability to bury the dark side so deep that it was almost extinguished but he still managed to fool even the Jedi who were in the same room and in very close proximity to him. Silly Jedi.

I think when Yoda said the dark side was muddling everything, Palpatine must have been laughing to himself. He must have made fun of the Palpatine. His evil smile when Anakin cut off Windu's hand sums it all up.

Technically Mace Mindu sensed the Darkside in Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. During the meeting with Mace, Yoda, Cone Head dude etc. Mace said “the Dark Side of the Force surrounds the Chancellor” so he sensed Palpatine was a Sith Lord but didn’t find out till the fight with Palpatine.

The jedi basically sat back and let the Overton window steadily shift further and further darkside all around them. They could still sense one another since they were basically shining lights in a dark sea, but they were so full of themselves that they thought they were growing more and more luminous instead of just refusing to acknowledge an ever-darkening abyss in their own back yard. Sidious was right; the jedi order was complacent, narcissistic, and completely out of touch with their role in the world.

The Jedi should have let the shrine exist and establish the"Sith" and the dark side as a natural part of living and they could have lived as natural halves that make a whole .They should have stayed, if not allies, at least not enemies." If only" thoughts could go a thousand, thousand different ways, but the Jedi should have built the main Temple on Tython, or maybe Dantooine. Maybe they could have found a new world. If only they had adapted as necessary brother orders. They would have grown so comfortable in the force over time away from each other that their evolution could have moved millennium faster if they we're not fighting the dark side under their feet and the Darksiders could have had their temple where the Jedi mistakenly built their Temple. They could have lived not together, but not in each other's ways. Idk, I'm rambling
