Pittsburgh television anchor Michelle Wright speaks on her book The Secret Diary, the true story of an American aviator’s POW experience in Europe.

After his B-24 was shot down in 1944, Marvin Doyle (a pre-war resident of Roanoke, VA, and a student at Virginia Tech) endured months of captivity and documented his experiences by keeping a journal on flattened cigarette packs. Wright would inherit this makeshift diary from Doyle’s widow, and collected his writings in her book.

About the speaker:

Michelle Wright anchors Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 every weekday morning. A native of Lynchburg, VA, and a graduate of Liberty University, Wright arrived at WTAE in 1994. She has been honored with many awards including three Regional Emmy awards.

Wright participates in many various charity events in her spare time. She serves as a media spokesperson for Race for the Cure, Project Bundle Up and the National Alliance for Mental Health. Wright’s hobbies include reading, watching movies, shopping for antiques and raising bee colonies—a hobby she discovered after reporting on the demise of the honeybee. Wright is a wife and mother of two children.
