Although not the same senerio, but close, Pyramid Lake in Nevada was drying up because of the Dreby Damn diversion back in 1905. Truckee River water, which naturally fed this lake, was shifted for agricultural use. Pyramid Lake is on the Paiute Reservation outside of Reno Nevada, so the tripe went to court and many many years later won their case. The lake started rising and fiĺing back up. As kids, back in the 60's, we would fish and camp at the lake quite often. My dad, who was born in 1898, would show us places that he and my uncles would dive off of into the lake that were several hundred feet higher than the lake level was around 1960 or so. The lake is much healthier now, and I am glad. I am hoping the same for the Great Salt Lake.

Great Salt Lake Dust samples contain relatively high concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, lead, copper, and mercury.

How about the unnecessary lawns, start there! Then use all the clean water from the sewer ponds that can run down hill into the great salt lake. Sure the farmers need to practice water conservation, ALL of Utah does.

The American equivalent of the Aral Sea I’m Central Asia/. Collectively for the Greater Salt Lake City metropolitan region and its rich, diverse ecosystems I continue to pray for long-termed mitigation strategies from local residents. Although it’s up to residents and especially industries and government policies.

Creating micro climates planting trees around the lake helps bring water to the lake. Plant large 500 acre sections around the lake

Hey, I've been inhaling arsenic dust from the exposed lake bed for several years now. I haven't noticed any any any ill effects.

In little places around the world, we have the environment collapsing. This is one of those many!

Good luck getting any support from the federal lack of government

You know what would help them? Voting for politicians who grasp the concept of climate change.

If we can pipe crude oil from Canada to refineries in Louisiana, I don't see why we can't pump seawater through a pipeline from the Pacific Ocean into the Great Salt Lake!

Trees produce water suction from the atmosphere sucking rain towards the lake

Good luck, Utah. The second coming is on the horizon.

Perfect time to build more subdivisions and increase the area’s population. Growth is all that matters, gods creatures and habitats are for our consumption and exploitation.

As bad as people are signaling alarm for SLC, I'd still rather be there than the hellhole known as Phoenix

Maybe stop people from watering their lawn so much and all these golf courses cut down o water usage would help. There is so much water wasted that could and should be making it to the lake.
