Kotlin comes to us from Jetbrains the same people that make the IntelliJ IDEA IDE. Designed to run on the JVM and interop cleanly with exisiting Java classes, Kotlin provides a number of upgrades from standard Java development. More than just another language tour with and ceaseless parade of tidbits and nuggets, this talk is a walkthrough of an actively developed project. Converted from existing Java code, this dropwizard and angularjs based application offers a glimpse of a number of Kotlin features in context. We'll walk through each layer from the Jersey resources all the way through the testing code showing how Kotlin works and can be used in conjunction with exising Java libraries.

So true, first jvm language worth giving up java for,
objectively its so beyond java that i dont have hope for it to catch up... let oracle guys make awesome vms, language is done by jetbrains now :)

Nice presentation, thanks for the effort.. BUT I have to say that, sorry, it is really very very very disgusting.... The speaker's mouth voices (sort of slurps or smacks) between words, really makes it hard for some audiences like me to focus on just the presentation itself. :( In my opinion speakers should give more attention to some distracting kinds of attitudes such as tic disorders and all..

If Android supported Java 8 fully you wouldn't need Kotlin at all, this looks more like a politic move to get away from Oracle.
