On April 9, 2021, the symposium 'Looking Backward, Moving Forward' was held to mark the 20th anniversary of Holocaust and Genocide Studies. One of the important aims of this symposium was to bring together the very sizeable and sophisticated body of knowledge in the study of war, genocide and Holocaust, and their respective intellectual communities, which up to now tend to remain bounded and distant from each other. The event was broadcasted at De Balie in Amsterdam. Key notes by Carol Gluck, Amos Goldberg, Stathis Kalyvas, Siniša Malešević and Dirk Moses, and contributions by Nanci Adler, Jolle Demmers, Eva Kovacs, Omar McDoom, Kristin Platt, Ismee Tames and Uğur Ümit Üngör.

Programme:
00:00 - Session 1: Contexts: Is the Holocaust a universal history and a global memory?
1:45:39 - Session 2: Connections: How are war and genocide related?
3:14:53 - Session 3: Chronicles: What is the future of genocide research?

I noticed that Professor Adler didn't mention the Guantanamo prison and torture on prisoners without a chance to be heard in court operated by the USA illegals, although her list of places of torture was extensive.
