iRacing crash… Who’s at fault??

So I was racing in the new Toyta GR86 in iRacing the other day, and had this unusual incident. As soon as the other car went defensive, I took the outside line knowing an overtake was unlikely, but at least I could put some pressure on. I suppose it could be slightly netcode related, but I still can't wrap my head around whether or not I induced this crash. Let me know what you think in the comments.

His fault, he turned as you weren't there

i would actually argue this is a racing incident because the guy on the inside turned in assumingely anticipating that u would turn left a little for the slight curve.

Easily he's fault he turned into you whilst you were on the outside

it's less obvious than you would think: when you were hit you weren't completely on the inside line, the other racer probably assumed that you were gonna go tighter since it would be faster and if he want's a chance to defend he has to dive as much as he can too. I say this because when he hits you he doesn't turn violently, it looked like he wanted to leave you space. If you upload more angles it would make it easyer to understand perfectly
Edit: i would like to add that the contact was not as violent and the netcode probably made it worse than it needed to be, irl this would've been a minor contact with no real consequences in race to the drivers aside from paint loss

That takes Beans 86 to a different level.

Impossible to tell from this pov, since the track is turning right at the moment of impact. You could also be moving across the track.

It is the responsibility of the overtaking car to make a safe pass

POV Hamilton and Verstappen in Interlagos be like:

Be a lot easier if you zoomed out to let us actually get depth of the track.

That's a tough one as there's a left kink in the road just before the contact, and the orange car could have moved a little too the left since there was a lot of space - might have been more obvious of you had stayed in chase cam. Crashes are almost always partially the fault of both drivers awareness if the track

he wasnt even aware that you were there. this is what i call tunnel vision. BUT, you could have lifted your acceleration. both drivers not smart moves.

That's a tough one because the track starts bending to the left. It's easy to say that they turned in on you, but if you don't follow the curve of the track, you would be squeezing them off. Would help if we saw the view from the rear the whole time so we could better see where the racing line is.

his turned in and presumed you were not there

I'd want to see from his POV. Super easy for you to have been in his blind spot and until you're in his field of view, he doesn't have to leave you room as you're the overtaking car.

he thought he blocked you and when he turned left u were there

If he's on a single screen without a spotter, he wouldn't have seen you.

incident, at the start of the corner he was angled towards the outside and he didn't steer into you, plus he probably thought you were still behind him and not overtaking you.

Just a racing incident. Both made choices and decided not to see where each other were. Lime Rock at that point has a small chicane you were entering and you stayed straight they turned in a bit.

iRacing’s fault if anything, what are those crash physics?

"He just completely turned into me!" "Crikey!"
