I got my SCCA racing license racing at the real Summit Point Raceway IN THE RAIN! I remember going into the turn the call “the cathedral” (because you pray every time you enter it) holding my breath every lap. What an education racing Summit in the pouring rain struggling to find some grip and drifting through the corners to maintain some speed. Sims are great but will never compare to getting in a real race car and feeling the g-forces and getting your adrenaline pumping as you try to get past the clown in front of you in a much faster car who thinks he is Senna but actually can’t drive for beans.

Doesn’t really classify as “deleted”, but I’m pretty sure iRacing fully modeled the old Daytona backstretch short track and it either technically was or still is in the game files, just not accessible in any way.

Summit Point used to be my home track for 10 years. Miss that track — it’s only 2mi but is really is a beautifully laid-out course. Fast and technical but easier to absorb. Good compliment to VIR.

I don't know how you find this stuff but it's interesting! You should do a short about the track/configuration that existed on iracing the longest before having an official. Maybe mention the drivers who finished 1st and 2nd ;)
