If you cannot enter the mirror/looking glass you need to do the quest "Book of Esoteric Revelations". This quest can be found by the waterfall at the Merusea Village. This Melusine will be named ??? at first until you start the quest. (You can get to the Merusea Village by playing through the Ancient Colors quest chain)

For anyone who is unable to collect 35:30 hydroculus/ No. 50, you need to complete "ancient colors quest series" and "book of esoteric revelations".

4:47 - I think devs put a lot of Hydroculus on high mountain because they want us to see the scenery.
Surely they must have put a lot of effort into creating these environment, so they have to make sure we see it somehow.
Doesn't make it any less annoying though.
