Biometric Headcount Exposes 12,000 Ghost Workers

The government has halted the payment of salaries and remuneration for some 12,510 public servants who did not register electronically during a recent biometric registration exercise. Devolution and national planning Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru says the process of smoking out ghost workers in public service would now be extended to parastatals and other government agencies. But as Francis Gachuri reports, public servants who are aged above 60 will be retired immediately.
