Annette is not my go to style, but I’m so tired of hearing people say she was a mistake. This album is one of my favourites. All of the styles have a place in my heart. I take the philosophic approach. You wouldn’t have this album without her.

As much as I love them both, neither Floor nor Tarja could have sung the songs on this album in the same way. Annette may not have been a rock goddess on stage, but she was truly theatrical in her approach to this wonderful concept album and nobody could have done it better. Just superb.

Marco and Annette's contrasting vocals are just magical. Their duets are incredible. It's sad that both are no longer part of nightwish.

Anette made Nightwish more mainstream, Anette made a metal band more mainstream. And metal is not a mainstream music, it's not easy to make it go mainstream. Anette introduced metal music to some people that never lisened to such music before! Many of them are metal fans up until this day, found more amazing bands but Nightwish with Anette's vocals was their stepping stone into the realm. She made it more pallatable for a lot of people who aren't used to listening to metal. The first album with her sold in great numbers! Much greater than any previous album. She played her role in this industry. BTW Nightwish did not intend to become a metal band originally, they wanted to do ambient music, alternative music. They decided to go for metal to match up with Tarja's locals. Just a little something to keep in mind. Tuomas and Marko aren't dumb, they know what they're doing. To sit here and criticize the vocalist is to criticize them at the same time. They know what their intent was, and if that intent doesn't align with your orthodox views of metal music, of what it can and what it can't be, don't listen to them, don't go to their concerts (some people would harass Anette on tour and I ask, why would you even go there ?)

Though I do miss Tarja, this is probably the masterpiece of Nightwish. A genius conceptual album that still gives me the shivers such as the Cure's "Disintegration", Pink Floyd's "The Wall" or Marillion's "Script for a Jester's Tear". It is brilliant to the bone.
