As a semi- committed, new Godox user that has experienced many problems….. this left me more confused than ever.

Thank you Nathan. It’s crazy that you have to spend money to replace something that should just do the job in the first place. I was hoping there would be a firmware solution, but clearly that isn’t possible. Appreciate all your effort to point out these things as always!!

Thanks for the update! We use the R2 Single Pin trigger in the hot shoe and keep the X Pro on a lanyard for actual power changes. By the way, if you have any clout with Godox, ask them to add a button that toggles all flashes off/on. Nice shortcut for ambient shots. Thanks again!

Your first video about the AWB issue with Godox triggers popped up in my recommended and you have finally solved my internal mystery of why I felt like I've been struggling with AWB ever since I switched to using Godox/Flashpoint. I never imagined that the trigger itself was causing it!

I think I may give this updated trigger a look, but as a stopgap and to save some money I have a TT350o that I bought for my Panasonic LX-100 that I can use as a commander on my Nikons to get around the "SB-900" issue. Only problems are I only get 3 groups and can't go below 1/128 using the mini flash as a commander.

While disappointing that this was the issue all along, thank you for the information and helping me finally solve this internal mystery!

Thank you Nathan. I will be waiting for a refresh version. I can't believe Godox would produce this with so many design glitches.

I ground down all the pins except for the center, works great. I have the R2 mk2 that you say you don't recommend, but it is inexpensive, small, and easy to use. The quarter turn lock works well on all my Canons, in fact I prefer it. My speedlights have the screw down locks which like to jam.

Godox! You are so close! Hopefully there will be a V2 which fixes the issues. But yea, I agree, why can't we just get a firmware update to add the lagacy hotshoe option.

Thank you for making this video! I never had this problem with the first generation X Pro N, because so far I had only used it with the Z9, which allows you to control the WYSISWYG aspect of the viewfinder even with a known flash attached. After watching this video I tested the X Pro N on my Z6II and Zfc, and as you reported you can't force the viewfinder to show ambient exposure. Good to be aware of this limitation. Thank you also for your reporting on the new locking mechanism, definitely looks like a deal breaker. You just saved me 120 euros!

Thank you for letting us know about this, especially the hotshoe tolerance issue. For that reason alone, I would not switch. A while ago I switched to the Godox XPro Cannon, to run on my Nikons. Very happy with them.

Thanks for the information. I too prefer the locking thumbwheel to the lever lock. My triggers fit securely on my cameras and my flashes attach securely to the variety of cold shoe adapters that I have on my lightstands.

Mine (S) introduced a new problem: TTL only works for group A, B, and C. Pressing the Mode-button when in group D or E, you only get M or Off. No TTL.

As i am using sony, i am still waiting for an update on the x-pro s triggers. The plastic connection is just crazy fragile, i have to replace/ repair it once in a while. For the v1 hot shoe sony mount you can already buy a metal replacement one. I would pay some money for a better engineered trigger i can tell you.. also i love all my godox flashes!

Thank you Nathan. I’ve been getting increasingly frustrated at my flashpoint trigger for Sony and the only other person that seems to have a work around is Robert hall but now that is not even working. My flash will go off but my exposure is still dark. I even updated the firmware (had to use my brother’s PC). Hopefully this new trigger is the solution I need

Have been playing around with one of these. Need to have a look at that hotshoe setting as am getting colour balance issues. Find the system (combined with x1r to control 580exii 's) to be a bit awkward to use. You have to get the flashgun settings absolutely right or it will not remote command the flash power settings, and will sometimes not fire at all. The other issue, is that the angle of the screen can also sometimes be difficult to read when the camera is on the tripod.

Godox has released the Xnano, how do you think it compares to the XPro II? Also, I bought the virtual tour book! Thank you

Thank you Nathan! The white balance issue has been resolved! I bought a trigger for Fuji. I take pictures with my Canon camera myself. ***
But there was another issue. I'd like to tell you about it. Maybe it will be helpful for someone. I take pictures with a Canon 5D Mark II camera, using the X2T trigger for Canon cameras. I have two flashbulbs: Godox AD200 PRO and Canon Speedlite 580EX II (it works through the receiver: Godox X1 RC). Apart from the problem with white balance, this set works without problems. The minimum flash sync speed is 1/200 sec. After replacing the original trigger with a Fuji compatible one, the Canon Speedlite 580EX II flash now has a minimum shutter speed of 1/100 second. The Godox AD200 PRO flash continues to work as before, with a shutter speed of 1/200 sec. The same effect can be seen if all contacts except for the central one are blocked in the trigger for a Canon. Everything works the same way on the Canon 90D camera as well.

I've been using my Nikon Xpro on my A7III, works great! I'll keep my cash in my pocket as well. Thanks Nathan!

Your video did me a huge favour in a different way. The Canon mirrorless cameras usually turn off Exposure Simulation when you attach a trigger and turn it on. After watching your video I thought I'd try my relatively new R7 with a hotshoe adapter I'd bought which is designed to let legacy flashes work with Canon's new digital multifunction hotshoe. I thought I'd try the trigger without first and then with the adapter.

The new Canon hotshoe leaves Exposure Simulation on, even when attaching and turning on a Godox X-ProC trigger. The crazy thing is that with the adapter, Exposure Simulation is turned off, as per usual. So it appears Canon has fixed this issue with the new hotshoe itself.

It's not just Godox. Most, if not all triggers usually turn off Exposure Simulation. I'm guessing it's because in a dark studio environment you would see nothing if you had Exposure Simulation turned on at shooting settings.
