This was such an awesome review Josh, very detailed, visually appealing in true Verge fashion and good description of the negatives perfect for anyone wanting to pick this up. I never really saw the point of tablets before but that may have been due to price. I'm very tempted to pick this up as my first tablet, amazing review as always, keep up the great work! @07:50 it's not mainly a device problem, the website has to offer the transformation for certain resolutions / total pixel-sizes, so it's up to the website's programmers. but you can tell chrome to "not act as a mobile browser", then it takes over the transofrmation by itself and will reformat when you are rotating the device - with a unlucky chance to reformat it in a way the website's designers wouldn't have wanted it to reformat.

I'm a huge Apple fan but Google sold me on this. Cheap, well built, powerful, finally a super responsive and smooth UI (thanks to Jelly Bean). I love my iPad 3, but the thing is so big and cumbersome to use sometimes, your arms get tired, you constantly have to prop the thing up to use because of that and typing is less than ideal. This thing is half the weight and size, super portable and easy to do thumb typing. This is the first really polished Android tablet i've seen, good job Google.

Also better battery life, better color saturation, a larger screen that's better for web browsing, tablet optimized apps, lack of fragmentation, doesn't lag when scrolling, etc.

A lot of people have the mindset that it is a budget tablet because of the price, but guys, this is a high end tablet, and without a doubt better than the iPad.

If you root it, you can change the screen dpi, which will automatically switch you to the traditional tablet interface.

The Nexus 7 does have a GPS, which the iPad doesn't have, but besides that, I guess you're right.
