FAQs:

Who are these guys? They are my ocs! Their names are Dario (brown haired) and Garrett (blond ponytail), a couple you can check out on my tumblr blog linked below! The other two ocs you can see are Mei (dark haired gal) and Kathy (redhead). There are a few other silhouettes of other characters as well.

Are they your personas? I apparently get this confusion a lot (maybe because its common for youtube animators to animate their personas?) BUT no they are not! They are original characters that I created and are in no way related to me or anyone else.

Are they boys or girls? They are two boys in a relationship! Please don't think Garrett is a girl simply because he likes dresses.

What programs do you use to make this?
Paint Studio Sai for the art, and Sony Vegas for the animation!

I think I finally get it, Dario has been listening to Garret's depressing thoughts for so long that he's afraid of him breaking down alone, without him there to help. But now, Dario is filled up with so much sadness and anxiety worrying about Garret, he is the one breaking down in the end. But Garret sees this and hugs him to comfort and calm him down, like Dario did for him.

I think the comparison of the “baby” character and the one getting “gray hair” in the song is very interesting. I think it’s a really good metaphor for taking too much responsibility and not allowing yourself to be weak, an adult doesn’t cry to a child because they are supposed to be strong for them. In the end of the animation Dario learns that’s not what their relationship should be, they should be equals and equally supporting each other and he is allowed to be vunerable.

Sometimes you focus so much on making sure everyone else it okay, that you get in the mindset that you can’t tell anyone that you need help too. You let your hair turn grayer and grayer, until all you see is the suffering of your friends, and not the happiness you have together.

sometimes you just have to step back and let yourself feel the love you need and deserve, and let the gray fade away.

THEORY:
could this be about how garrett is using dario to dump all of his negative emotions onto? not in a toxic way, of course he doesn't mean to hurt dario, but it seems like dario is enduring all of garett's problems. like he's being his personal therapist, even though he's not qualified to and, since he cares deeply for garett, his problems are starting to get to him, to. never lay down all of your mental issues onto a friend please, they aren't your therapist and you'll end up hurting them- ppl have done it to me it's not a good feeling

and dario doesn't know how to tell garett that all of his problems are hurting him so he lets it continue until he too needs a therapist

Honestly, this made me cry. No joke. The animation, the meaning, the song, everything. I used to have a boyfriend that was constantly in a state of, well, melancholy and sadness. Always dwindled in doldrums. He was awful to himself. He always degraded himself, and put a lot of pressure and stress on to me to the point of me bursting into tears from stress and confusion. I had to tell him that the way he acted hurt me a lot, and made me want to break up. He had a lot of problems. He hurt himself everytime he thought he did something wrong to me, and threatened to kill himself. He would ask touchy questions like, "what would happen if I jumped off the roof?". He was mentally abusive to me, and made me feel bad. He pushed all of his mental problems onto me and I didn't have time to think of myself. I slowly crumbled, and eventually broke. It was the worst relationship I've had by far. I'm not comparing him to Garett, no, no, but he made me get a little gray spot in my HEART for every scare he shared. If you, or anybody else deals with someone in the future that uses you as a punching bag or "toy" to release all their stress onto, and you feel like you just wanna cry, leave them. If they have deep, deep problems, they need to figure them out by themself.

I really adore the story you did for this one! My theory is that Dario is always there for Garret and acts as his emotional support or his shoulder to cry on. He loves him and wants to help him, but it's taking a one-sided emotional toll on him that builds up throughout the animation. In his mind, he probably believes that Garret already has too much on his plate so he doesn't want to add on to it so he doesn't share the pain he feels from it all to him. His grey hair might represent the stress he's gaining from carrying so many of Garrets emotions and not telling about any of his own, and eventually Garret catches on, acting as his shoulder to cry on in return.

I don't typically cry over YouTube videos, but seeing Dario covered in grey hair and in tears nearly broke me. He's so wrapped up in making Garrett happy he forgot about himself and won't even *acknowledge* his own mental stress or state so long as Gare is happy.
