I did the Aliexpress "GRADE A" thing with 2 sets of 200ah cells. The first pack I set up, a terminal similar to these broke off with hardly any torque on it. I got no support, not a suprise, and was told I "Abused it" even though I had not even used it. Well, a few months later, i got the un-used pack out of my storage cabinet to take camping, and the paint on the steel came with it. One of the cells is leaking from 3 different points. Not liking the look of that, I took out the pack in my land cruiser and found one of those was leaking too. They had not rubbed on anything or been hit, they just corroded from the inside out. Still waiting to see if the supplier will do anything about it, but i don't think they will. So, lesson learnt, buy from a supplier in you're own country. Thanks to watching Will here, I have bought some very nice LIFEPO4 batteries that are much better with no problems, and am hoping to enjoy them for many years.

I just got mine last week and upgraded a 12 year old 1540Ah 12V FLA battery bank to 1216Ah 12V LiFePO4 and wow, is lithium a game changer! Big thanks Will for setting me on coarse; the Overkill BMS and these cells are fantastic together!

Ordered 16 x 304AH cells from Shenzhen Qishou Technology (I dealt with Amy Peng) via Alibaba on Aug 12th and received them yesterday (just over 3 months). Cost for cells ($115 each + $519 shipping) was USD $2359 or $0.16 / Wh... Each cell was exactly 3.304 V with very little buldging. Currently performing capacity testing but so far I'm impressed... Love your videos Will. Thank you for all the info you provide... What a great learning experience... Life's good... :)

If the server rack batteries had been available when I started my solar journey, there's not a chance I'd have done DIY cells. I could have had my system up and running months earlier.

I have a buddy who bought brand new 280Ah cells very similar to those, 16 cells for ~$1700. The best deal I've ever seen by far. The listing went out of stock shortly afterwards.

I don’t understand half of what you are saying and yet, the way you present things so smooth and simple I feel like I understand it all

I ordered the 30kw set with the rack and charger from Signature Solar after your review. Now I wait. And wait. And wait some more. I have the ability to built them but just don’t have the time with everything else I’m doing on the homestead before the negative temperature get here.

This is one of the simplest, yet most informative videos I've watched on this subject. Good job, Will.

Now if they can only keep them in stock. Real grade A cells are not bloated no matter what the seller claims! When used in a pack, if you top balanced them, they just all track together and you really don't need an active balancer, just a BMS. You get what you pay for. These 304AH cells give nearly a kilowatt hour per cell, and over the long run are great for cycling daily.

Hi Will, these Eve cells are great. It is often noted (also by you) that even though you run a BMS, balancing is hardly needed once you start out with a good top balance. However, I sometimes see projects with high value (like 2 or 3A) resistive (passive) balancers on them with a very sophisticated BMS that controls the charger over CAN bus. Charging happens at something like 0.25C to 0.3C. Charging speed is then lowered via CAN bus when it is getting at high SOC, so the balancing can take place with a bit more time. I think that it is all very nice also due to the charging speed. But if you stay below 0.2C it is maybe not necessary? You get the change the charging is pushing one of the cells into an upper voltage limit as it cannot balance fast enough, some day when the pack is older and has more differences. In that situation, there will be some on/off charging of running into the limit and releasing again. Do you think the more expensive BMS and CAN bus system is worth it?

Thanks for all the great info.
Would be awesome if you could mention and/or test some sources in Europe from whom to buy solar supplies (including batteries).

LOVE these prices! Looking forward to building my NEXT solar system this coming summer at my new home.
My current off-grid system is only a few years old and I paid well over double of this when I built my battery pack with just under 400 amp hours.

No one is more excited about this development than me but I would of liked to see you keep them and put them through their paces over a period of time to make sure they hold up because its still a lot of money to put down especially for those who will have to pay for shipping outside of the US. They weigh the same, have similar dimensions as my batteries but give almost double the capacity for 10/20% more cost, as someone who relies on their batteries full time this is a step forward to making my life easier in winter and be able to run an aircon is summer.
