Hold the bar, put the base of the bottle on the table, using the bar as leverage tilt the bottle about 45 degrees. Doing so, you will have a point of contact on the rim of the bottle with the bar and another point of contact at the bottom. This way you will create a sort of "lever action" for the lack of better words. Then all you need to do is hit the slanted side with your tool (hit the plane that faces the ceiling) this way you will most definitely break at least the rim. If you have questions let me know.

You use the stopper to drag the ceramic ball to the top of the bottle then apply force. The ceramic ball inside the bottle is actually what breaks the glass from the inside due to it having a higher "scratch" rating than the glass on the outside. By jigging it against the bottle neck with any amount of force you would eventually form enough microfissures to shatter the glass. Particularly due to the additional leverage provided by the wooden dowel. If the goal is to break the glass. Alternatively another solution is to hold it upright in one hand and slap the bottom with any of those objects. The force of the dowel recoiling will eventually knock the bottom out.
