This isn’t only happening in Beijing. In my hometown of Jinan, you can’t go anywhere without a negative Covid test. My grandparents, uncles, and aunts all have to get a Covid test once every other day.

I've been in China this whole time. We keep fluctuating from "This is serious guys, every community lockdown and daily test" to "haha look at the rest of the world in chaos, China safe. Let's go do things like normal again". This is a weekly cycle with no end in sight.
I bet someone in the medical industry is making a ton of subsidized money from selling the equipment. Labor is super cheap, too.

0:50 financially sustainable you ask? China covid deaths is 5K and their inflation rate is maintained at 2%. US covid deaths 1 million and their inflation rate is 8%. The numbers speak for themselves, we sacrificed 1 million Americans just to achieve negative % gdp growth this year.

Here in Shanghai, since the end of lockdown they've trained volunteers to conduct these PCR tests in our residential compound and I question whether they're doing it properly. The nurses and doctors would do a thorough back of the throat swab, whereas these volunteers are doing a cheek swab. I'm no expert, but I don't think a cheek swab is the way these tests should be conducted? It's quite easy to imagine that with the large number of volunteers and workers conducting these tests, there will be inconsistencies in how the tests are carried out, reducing their reliability.

At least it's free. And very cheap elsewhere.

Yet, Shanghai didn't know how to do this and locked everyone down instead.

in place where you have to pay for the test

no one is going to test regularly

having said that, those areas don't have many cases anyway

Dear CCP: How's that covid zero strategy working out for you? 🙄

If testing is about 2% of its GDP, how much would it cost if there was randomized testing and the cost of treating those who get sick? In addition, the cost of importing better vaccines? It’s difficult to believe that this also wouldn’t be very costly.

I have always said that West Media representation of many Chinese people's life is very exaggerated in the negative way in relation with government regulations. But in this case, when talking about covid restrictions, this policy of the Chinese government is becoming a little TOO MUCH. You can't just lock everyone and test them every day
