Holiday Time at Disneyland (1962) - DisneyAvenue.com

"Holiday Time at Disneyland" is a 1962 episode of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color that features one of the best openings of Walt getting in the Christmas spirit. In this episode, we'll see numerous Disneyland attractions that were opened on or around official holidays. Although Christmas is the official theme of the episode, complete with a Christmas parade and songs, it's hardly the only holiday featured in the program. Of course, when new attractions were opened, Disneyland frequently created their own unofficial holiday, such as "Gala Day", when three new attractions, the Matterhorn, the Monorail, and the original submarine voyage, opened in Tomorrowland back in 1959.

The place at Disneyland most prominently featured in this show is Main Street, U.S.A., where all Disneyland parades begin.

Lastly, on two occasions, you'll notice a thin man with glasses with kids (probably his real family) enter Walt Disney's segments. That's none other than Olan Soule, who's probably best remembered for voicing Batman in various cartoon shows from 1968-83.

The first time our folks took us there was in the summer of 1961. What a magical adventure. We also visited the San Diego Zoo, Marineland (closed decades ago) and Knott’s Berry Farm. I was four.

I finally got to go to Disneyland in California way back in 1989(I think 🤔) and I LOVED it and then I went back in 1994 after my mom had died just to get my mind together and have a little fun one of these days I wanna go back I bet you it's changed since I was there some 30 years ago

My first trip to Disneyland was in December 1962 and my mom made me wear a dress (never again) but at least it had a full skirt. It was fun but what I remember most was that Walt Disney and his grandchildren were riding a Model T automobile a parade (of course it helps that my dad took movie pictures so I can still watch it). I've been to Disney World in Florida and Tokyo Disneyland but thee one in Anaheim (although always so crowded and full of strollers) holds a special place in my heart.
