Dr. Bret Scher is a board certified cardiologist, having completed his cardiology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla CA, his internal medicine residency at Mercy hospital in San Diego, and his medical school training at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Scher has been a practicing cardiologist for fifteen years and has seen thousands of people suffering from cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately the vast majority of the diseases he has treated were completely preventable. The problem is that our narrative and our teachings are the right ones for success. That is why Dr. Scher believes a low carb lifestyle should be an option for everyone as a tool to transform their health. But health doesn’t stop with nutrition. Fitness, stress, sleep and social connections also play vital roles.

Not many people, let along doctors, in the world who are willing to admit they were wrong. Many, many doctors are now recognizing they actually have the power to heal, rather than merely write a prescription.

Finally lots of Canadian doctors support low carb. In fact one of my husband's doctors mentioned your channel last week while my husband was in. Both my husband's doctors recommended Low Carb High Fat to my husband. I have done it for 2 years and they don't even want to test me just because I look better. I'd like more testing. Thanks for the great video Bret, you are helping heal my family and friends. Dad 84 is now not pre-diabetic after 1 year low carb. They keep testing him lots. I'm jealous he lost more weight than me in less time.

We have the wrong healthcare business model -- For the patients. There is no financial incentive for doctors to tell their patients to adopt healthy lifestyle and diet. There is no financial incentive for drug companies to develop truly effective drugs. Bottom line is those 50-80% "preventable" CVD cases are 50-80% revenue increases for the healthcare industry.

The original book of The Blue Zones never had this plant based bias in it.
Community and family were very big factors, they usually ate cheese and milk which was local and ate meat on regular occasions.
Unfortunately the website has spawned into a vegan/vegetarian mouth piece.

I spent a year in the Andes mountains 25 years ago, in Bolivia. I spent 6 months in some cities and about 6 months in some very remote villages with either no electricity or with a few hours a week with generator powered electricity. The mortality rates is skewed due to very high infant mortality as well as death due to basic stuff like a teeth infection, etc. However most people were slightly fat but not obese. They moved their ass and walked a lot. Those with a car only use it when they really need to use it. Those old colonial cities don't have a lot of parking spots to start with. Researchers are too stupid to figure out that in many areas like these there are no fridges in most people's home so they buy fresh at the market everyday and they are cherry picking only the best fruits and veggies. Those are old heirloom varieties with a ton of flavor. They pounce on any meat they can find, I can tell you that much. However most are dead broke and can't even afford to eat their own sheeps.and chickens. They barter them to pay for.clothing or to go to the city to have an operation. They love meat... but they have to stick to corn, quinoa, dehydrated potatoes called chunios. They add some.veggies.to it. All that being said, the ladies are really good at making those old styles farmers soups with a ton of bones in them. I don't remember eating a poorly tasting meal there no matter how simple it was.

Cholesterol is in your entire circulatory system. Why is there clogging of the ARTERIES close to the heart and not in the veins or capillaries in your nose, ear or knee?
This is because the pumping of the heart can cause hairline cracks. Blood pressure is highest in this area. These hairline cracks are repaired by a sticky substance LP(a), to prevent from getting worse.

Why don't animals have cardiovascular disease?
Almost all animals produce large amounts of vitamin C in their liver.
On average 35 mg/kg body weight. So we have to take at least about 3000 mg of vitamin C ourselves because humans cannot make vitamin C. You get strong collagen tissue, strong connective tissue, strong arteries. Hairline cracks no longer form and arterial plaque is removed and burned in the liver.

Repair with cholesterol is therefore a consequence of a deficiency of vitamin C.
So do not take statins, but vitamin C in a high dose: at least 3 grams, better: 6 to 10 grams

But when these guidelines were introdiced in 1977 the figure was already double that of 1961, so what else was going on?

Good talk, but blew through Esselstyn's work. Did not mention his more recent 200 patient study of patients with known heart disease, which unlike Ornish, was not a total lifestyle intervention, it was a dietary intervention with profound results which cannot be ignored. I suspect the main benefit was removal of sugar, processed oils, and other garbage foods, and not necessarily plant only but it worked.

I'm not sure how the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio can improve on a LCHF diet. In my case, LDL has risen significantly (that's ApoB), and HDL (i.e. ApoA1) has risen too, but not as significantly. Consequently, my ApoB/ApoA1 value has gotten considerably worse, not better, when on LCHF. A healthy ratio is 0.5, according to some "experts." My value used to be around 0.7 - 0.8, still pretty good. Now on LCHF my ratio is worse - close to 1.0. The only saving grace is some studies show the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio may not be as relevant or problematic if your insulin is well-controlled, and that is something that usually improves when going LCHF.

Have the LCHF diet tested with prisoners.

Golf swing? Keep your trailing elbow in and lead wrist straight all the way from the top. Sets up an in-and-out club path for a gentle draw.

1200 kcal would kill me pretty quickly... I suppose this is an average of the population, but it should be mentioned.
