Suspension Of 2 BJP Spokespersons Nothing More Than Farce, Says Congress; Aishwarya Mudgil Responds

The BJP high command suspended national spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Sunday over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate. The party has also suspended Delhi BJP's media in-charge Naveen Kumar Jindal.
This comes after violence broke out in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Friday after some people allegedly tried to force shopkeepers to down shutters over the remarks made by Nupur Sharma. At least 40 people, including 20 police personnel, were injured during the clashes, the police said.
"This much belated suspension of two BJP spokespersons is nothing more than a farce. It is a sham in the face of international pressure," Congress' Aadil Boparai said.
"Govt did what they had to", said Political analyst Aishwarya Mudgil.
