This is an instructional segment on the scarf hold position from the upcoming digital seminar Jiu-Jitsu Deep Dive. This digital seminar launches Friday with Eli Knight and The Budo Brothers and is a comprehensive course on the martial art of Jiu-Jitsu. This course has over 7 hours and over 170 videos of technique, principle and mindset of jiu-jitsu training.

Kesa Gatame is a powerful modified side control position for holding and controlling with some powerful submission opportunities. The submissions in this video are, in my opinion, the best options from here depending on the energy of the opponent.

From a Judoka, THANK YOU so much. Usually this is just a pin but I love making people tap.

I'm teaching class tonight for our side control month and I got some details I really needed here on a few of my favorite subs from this position. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Scarf hold is one of my favorite positions, but I had limited subs from there. You just gave me three more!!!

I loved this, because scarf hold is one of my strongest side control positions, and I know a lot of more complicated submissions, but for some reason, I didn't know the two strait armbars you showed. I wish I could practice them this instant, but alas, i am stuck at home

These videos are GREAT, professor! Thank you! I'm a brown belt hobbyist who's always spent most of my time focusing on achieving dominant positions, but my submission game has always been relatively weak. I've been catching more and more stuff on guys thanks to these videos you've been putting out. Keep up the great work sir!

5. If I can't get the leg Americana because he straightens arm I like to secure his forearm with my free hand and step on the wrist or hand with my far leg. It's another armbar from scarf hold I like to use in this combo

You can also set up a nasty swim choke (reverse arm triangle) as you transition the leg over the head, people often push it away thinking an attack is coming, giving you an easy opportunity to breast stroke that arm into place and attack a reverse arm triangle.

Nice video...very clean look!
This is a very powerful position to hold and work from (Kazure-Kesa-Gatame). We’re producing a series on Kesa-Gatame at the moment...some really extraordinary tactics that can be done from these major combat holds—great job!

Thank you, we had an open mat today and I keep taking scarf hold as I find it hard to keep king side control because I can never bring my leg close enough to my opponents arm pit to control the inside space due to my own mobility. I find Scarf Hold a great place for me to dominate especially because of my strength and size. I just sat here playing your video over and over again taking notes for the past 40 minutes 🤣🤣

Love the Scarf Hold! Such a versatile position. Used in almost every grappling art I can think of🤙

Thank you, very good ideas! Just a thought on the second submission, I feel he would relieve the pressure on his left shoulder by turning into you.
