I see a stronger prism effect at Vray. On the other hand, the gold part at Arnold is pretty reflective

In this video, it is clear that the reflection and "metalness" of the gold of the ring is configured differently between Arnold and V-Ray. Likewise, Arnold needs the reflection setting to be turned way down, it is hurting the refraction. The reflection is far more dull in V-Ray, not because it is worse at doing reflections, but because the material is set up differently than it is in Arnold, to provide a more blurry/diffuse look. It would be nice to see a comparison where the materials are matched up as much as possible (i.e., equal reflection blurring) to see which renders better and/or more realistic. Otherwise, this is yet another apples vs oranges comparison.

Maxwell beats both renderers in terms of realism

A very nice comparison, followed for more, i personally vray, mostly the amazing caustics and look but also for how powerful it is and flexible, also it is incredebly fast compared to arnold which usually takes 2 to 4 more time to render compared to vray which is pretty fast

Arnold is way better but it's also slow but for a good reason.

I am a long time V-Ray user but trying to switch to Arnold lately. I noticed that Arnold gives more realistic result without much tweaking but renders a bit slower. So with Arnold you let the computer work, I prefer this! And yes your example shows it again, Arnold looks more realistic. And yes you could spend time tweaking your v-ray result to get more realistic but it would probably take more time to tweak in V-Ray than just hitting the render button in Arnold in this simple case... Also I discovered that for my usage, V-Ray is now 4 to 5 times more expensive to use than Arnold. Since we can use Arnold for free with watermarks for testing and then rent it just for the final rendering, which can't be done with V-Ray. We also have free license to render with maya and 3ds max. Many years ago it was the opposite, V-Ray was cheaper and that was the reason I chose it in the first place even though I prefered Arnold results I was not able to afford it.

Arnold look really reastic, very close to real Daimond. Vray looks more fake. Maybe you need tweak more. And how's different about rendertime ?
