Klipsch 525 THX Ultra 2 vs SVS Ultra Center speakers amatuer comparison

Recently picked up a SVS Ultra center, figure I would do a quick comparison with my Klipsch 525.

I'm no expert, so just this is for fun.

Klipsch puts sound in front of you, SVS has a more open airy sound

This video is really interesting to me.
That Klipsch, being a decade old at the time of making and the now at least 6 year old SVS, both actually sounded amazing through the range of frequencies. I would imagine the tweeter on the SVS, making it a 3 way might give the impression of a brightness. 3 way centers are still not that common. I think SVS did something pretty special here as there hasn't (to my knowlege) been a revision of the speaker since it's release, and holds a very good reputation among the forums.
My prime center comes today to replace the Andrew Jones C-22. Can't wait!

Great video man! A lot of us have aging equipment and think it would be time to upgrade as technology progresses. Not always for the better! I agree with your decision. I’d hate to buy an all new system and have buyers remorse after. Always sounds different at home too

I own the SVS Ultra Center and they're amazing to me! I was lucky to buy one on Black Friday for 580$! I came from a Klipsch R 250c, and it's night-n-day for me, but I've not heard anything else aside from what I've owned, but I hooked up the Ultra Center by itself and man I was like WTF! It sounded awesome, and I cranked it up and the bass and clarity were just fantastic! I own the SVS Ultra Bookshelves and a PB3000, and that's more than I'll ever need...currently saving for some surrounds and a pair or in ceiling for a 5.2.2.

If you would have put the Klipsch 625 instead of the 525 I bet he would be much happier as they are phenomenal speakers & They come with 6.5in woofers. You can use either a left channel or right channel of it for the center it does not matter. I just ordered a set of three to go behind my 180 inch screen and then I ordered 4 of the 525’s For the sides and rear

The Klipsch definitely threw sound out much easier then the SVS in your theater set up! The SVS is probably the king of Living Rooms!

The SVS has incredible depth that layers through the sound stage. The Klipsch sounds good too but feels less dimensional. Setting a proper crossover for the klipsch with the sub will give the Klipsch the best of both worlds.

The center channel is the most important speaker in a surround sound setup. You should have a 650thx for a center channel. Or the klipsch reference series with 4 6in drivers and a horn.

For this video, I think the positioning of the two center speakers in comparison to the microphone of your camera as well as your sitting position, the Klipsch is more in line whereas the SVS is placed above (and to the right) which will make a difference in sound to how you and we perceive it.

Center channel placement can be critical for it should be directly in line to where you're sitting to get that proper, direct sound as opposed to an off-axis one. That's why the ideal placement is always underneath the TV directly in line with your ears. It is the most important speaker for a home theater so it should be placed properly.

For a dedicated home theater room like this id go klipsch all day. You just cannot beat the horns and it’s the reason why big theaters or music halls use horns.

I never understand the fingerprint issue unless you have kids. How many times after the initial setup are you _actually_ going to touch the cabinet? lol That being said, the Klipsch did sound clearer here.

how they sound in stereo music? they have a good bass? togheter with the subwoofer?

Few things:
1. Us listening to YouTube recorded with your mic tells us zero about the speakers...
2. Did you level match the speakers? There's about a 7dB difference in sensitivity between the two. All else equal, people tend to prefer the louder sound.
3. You actually do NOT want the Klipsch to have SVS "woofer" the woofers on the Klipsch are optimized to produce higher output above 80Hz, where it should be crossed over to the sub per THX spec. The fact that SVS's response goes below that is a shame as they've prioritized range over dynamics.

Otherwise, very interesting comparison. I just wanted to see the physical differences between the two and I got that... so thank you for this comparison :)
