Daft Punk - Interstella 5555 (Official Trailer)

Originally released in May 2003, Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto’s Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem was written by Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Cédric Hervet, directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi and supervised by the legendary Leiji Matsumoto.
Interstella 5555 tells the story of the abduction of an alien music band by an evil human character who has dark plans. The hour-long film was cut into music videos to accompany Daft Punk’s album Discovery, and is rare to see in its original form in cinemas.
The film will be immediately followed by a curated selection of iconic Daft Punk videos from directors including Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, Seb Janiak, Roman Coppola, and Warren Fu.

I went to the grand opening of this film at the RIFF festival in Reykjavík, Iceland. It's one of my all-time favorite films, and I went with two friends who had never seen it. Trust me, this upscaling looks even worse on a big screen. My friend asked me if the movie always looked like that. I assured him it didn't. Creative director Cedric Hervet had a Q&A, and the first question was about the upscaling. He thought the company they hired did a good job. It was a real 'bruh' moment.
