The 1961 version that has Ray Harryhausen special effects is STILL my all time favorite..Everything in that movie was perfect even down to the musical score.. Every actor or actress who portray their respective characters, were PERFECT for the roles.. Even to this day, in my opinion, it stand the test of time of being #1 version of Verne's tale...

This adaptation and the 2005 movie with Patrick Stewart are so far off from the Jules Verne novel, which is science fiction not because it includes time travel or giant animals, but because the main characters use science for their survival on the isolated island. I’d recommend searching for the radio adaptation or audiobook which are also on YouTube; both are very faithful to the original book.
