Being a MIS recent graduate and now working as a Business Systems Analyst, this video is pretty on-point. Your starting base salary can definitely be higher than 60k/year depending on where you are located (mine was 75k as a junior). The flexibility of pursuing different roles and continuously learning factors are definitely the good things about this degree. I just hope that more females will pursue this degree! In my undergrad classes, the female to male ratio is often 5 girls vs. 35 people in total. Keep up the great work Shane!!

MIS is actually a worthwhile degree. It's also known as Computer Information Systems (CIS) in some campuses. It's a mix of STEM and Business (the useful and profitable side and not the fluffy, broad, and common sense side). You get to learn practical Accounting, coding to create websites and design, the hard technical side of Marketing, and some technical/business writing. It's pretty useful especially if you like dealing with computers or have a good eye on business where you want to learn the real deal. Good job on the video.

As a 17-year-old living in a small country in South America, I have never even heard about this major. It's such a big opportunity. Thank you for sharing the information and your opinions! It's very valuable.

Did an engineering degree and ended up in information systems after graduating. There’s a lot of opportunity in the field!

Graduated with a M.I.S. Degree 3 years ago enjoyed every bit of the coursework. Have worked in technical support in the last 3 years, but now switching over to a Business Analyst Role. I love the versatility. Nice Video!

I just forced my 16-year-old brothers to subscribe to you lol. I wish your channel was around before I wasted years wandering through university. Keep up the good work.

Currently finishing up my undergrad in MIS. Can say it’s prepped me so well for the industry and I’m interning for a large data center doing cyber security engineering. This degree combines the hard skills of computers and tech with the soft skills dealing with people. Love this degree can’t wait to start my career!

MIS graduate here.

I just want to say your video is without a doubt the most accurate and precise video Ive ever seen about MIS. 11/10 for you!

You hit the nail on the head. Everything you mentioned is true.

I just started my career in IT consulting and I love it.

Salary and long term career outlook is great.

Perfect combo between tech (coding, cybersecurity, database architecture) and accounting/finance/economics that will set you apart!

Thank you Shane for putting this info out there.

I definitely recommend this degree.

I just subscribed! Keep up with the great content!!

I went into "Computer Information Systems" and they offered a cute little specialization of "Data Science". Basically its an IS degree with linear algebra, numerical analysis, big data management, data mining + programming.

In my career it became an analytics degree. Here I am two years into the field making $85k in Central Florida. Lucrative and I love my job.

Just graduated with a double major in MIS and Accounting. Powerful combo due to the fact MIS lacking rigorous accounting/finance and Accounting lacking technology.

I have a bachelor in CIS (Computer Information Systems) and going for my master in Cybersecurity. The degree was worth it in my opinion during my time in college. I mess up 2 years of my college as a med degree and wanted to take computer science but department said I'll graduate longer because of missing math grade. I took Information Systems and applied the technical stuff in real life. I created a lab environment and games using unity. I also did a lot of college internship and enter IT programs which all that later landed me to a120k job. I first started with a permanent position at city job and kept on learning.

I was pursuing computer Engineering but I have switched to MIS. I have worked as a desktop support analyst and after interacting with more folks at work, MIS is the way to go. More flexibility and The growth curve is endlessly exciting. Thank you for making this video.

I graduated with an MIS degree last year and lucked out and got my dream job as a software engineer. The school you choose is actually pretty important because no two MIS programs are going to be the same. Luckily, my school offered several programming classes and I also had a concentration in Data Science. I've seen schools that only offer a couple programming classes though, so make sure to look at the courses before deciding on a school.

Being a freshman I already chose MIS to be my major. Thanks for the video, you are the first one who explained that broadly about MIS!!!

On my first semester of MIS I began my internship as a Software Developer in Brazil.
Stayed in the company for one year and a half then moved to Switzerland to work as a Software Engineering Intern.
One year in I got promoted to Associate Software Developer. 3 months later got promoted again to Junior Product Manager

This truly is a great degree and career path.

I am so glad I finally picked my major after 2 years of deciding, I settled on this and will be attending FAU in the beginning of 2024 which offers an amazing internship program..I just got my AA degree and always knew I wanted something involving math, so I took a ton of math classes which is helpful, but also business and I am so glad that I picked this.! :) This makes me so relieved, and I love how building a skillset and becoming an expert, I could start my own business....my goal is to have a career where I can possibly work remotely with the starting pay of what I make bartending which is 60k, so this is great knowing I won't have to temporarily make that sacrifice of losing out on pay.
