Title: Structural elucidation of the inflammasome pathway – calcium flux and pore formation

Dr. Hao Wu
Asa and Patricia Springer Professor
Harvard Medical School
Boston Children's Hospital

Proteins organize into higher-order assemblies in order to transduce signals such as those generated by the innate immune system. These assemblies serve as signaling clusters that bring various molecules of a pathway together and can function to amplify signals, reduce noise and create thresholding behavior. Structural biology has given us critical insights into the nature and organization of these protein complexes. In this talk Dr. Hao Wu describes new structures of the inflammasome and of the inflammasome effector gasdermin D.
