Silicone goop, home fit-kits, and dual-camera wielding guns that fire lasers directly into your brain. These are just a few of the tools of the trade used in making the customest custom in-ear monitors imaginable. But it goes deeper than that.

From choosing how many drivers you want (up to eight tiny speakers per ear!), to customizing the way they look, and making sure they fit every tiny nook and cranny of your ear, the precision and craft that go into these little things is mind-boggling. Oh yeah, and they sound amazing, too.

Join host Brent Rose as he digs into the art and science of all things custom in Bespoke America.

We come from the future.

And here I am so stoked on foam tips that create a nice seal and slowly transform their shape to my ear canal.

once you go custom fit its hard to use anything else... the biggest issue with custom fit is you can tell people how great they sound but you can't let anyone try them out because... they only fit you... I have a set that I switched over to wireless with the TRN BT20 and another set that I switched over to wireless with the Earstudio ES100, it has a mic built in where the phone app lets you adjust ambient so if needed you can have a face to face conversation without having to dig out the headphones from your ears... enjoy... they are great

I just taken my first ear impression last week. After a week, the company sent me a shell for testing fit. Tho my pair haven't finished yet, but I dare to say ciem can bring your music to another level. Just the fit only, it feels amazing. Like you cannot recognize it is in your ear.

I bought my iems kz zs10 pro two days ago . It's my first experience of using iems . It is incredible that how it makes the sounds, clear and loud . Like you are in a concert, the sound of music is in your head and it rounds in your head .

The CEO of Ultimate Ears kicked out the founder of the company so he (Jerry Harvey) made his own IEM company called JH Audio or Jerry Harvey Audio. You went to the original IEM brand but you could’ve gone to the original IEM creator.

Now you can make your own at home with custom earplug kits and a dremel. $10 or these that cost a few hundred per ear at the low end. Or $10 bucks to turn your favorite iems to custom fit

I will say this, ultimate ears is not the most custom IEMs you can buy. You’ll find companies like Alclair, 64 audio, and JH audio hold those titles. The driver choice, color choice, and model choice from UE is pretty substantially not up to par with the companies I mentioned. Alclair has 2 versions of each model tailored to specific musician needs. UE says “well here’s a dual driver” and that’s it. Plus the customer service ar UE sucks if you’re not a famous session/touring musician.

I wonder about durability for everyday use, I noticed at the end of the video the cords were twisted around.

UE won't even mention Jerry Harvey's name...so sad. JH Audio all the way. I love my Roxannes.

As a CIEM owner, I wouldn't trust or go anywhere near their fitkits. It's not worth the risk of having to do one or more refits which would end up costing you more than a visit to the audiologist. Speaking from experience.

Do you recommend ambient feature of UE for stage musicians?

This is awesome, but as the saying goes, 'If you have to ask how much....'

Why it’s so hard to give some credit to Jerry Harvey? Stead calling him “sound engineer”

the goop hardened to a kinda weird shape...

Once Jerry Harvey leave UE, I think the UE kind of lost for their tuning standards. Which is really sad.
