Hyundai seems to be one of the few legacy automakers successfully pivoting to compete with the best of the pure-EV players for the next generation of vehicle sales. Love it. I just wish they were an American company tbh, give me an automaker to be proud of for a change.

For those who missed the point/don’t get the carefully curated choices made in this brilliant commercial… it means you weren’t the target demo. 🤣 This ad is a fantastic example of how car companies use specific songs and visual references to appeal to exactly who they think will want to drive that particular car. In this case, Hyundai is looking square at the micro-gen, Xennials. Born between 1976/1977 - 1983/1984 (range depends on what research insights you read 🤷🏻‍♀️), most likely skewing towards tech-savvy males who are married with a young family. The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is designed to be a sporty SUV that’s big enough/safe enough to drive his family around everywhere, and the hybrid makes it economically and environmentally friendly. But, it still has all the bells & whistles to give it a “cool” factor so that he doesn’t feel like he had to give in and get a minivan and lose all his remaining street cred. Hyundai plays on that generations over-indexed affinity towards nostalgia and all things 80’s/90’s thru the use of the song and toys of their childhood, because, let’s face it - those were the best decades everrrr. 😍🤣 Finally, you go from the Amazon warehouse right into his phone, where he’s able to “add to cart” in the Amazon app because he’s not like a regular Dad, he’s a cool Dad.. he buys his ~$45K cars with Prime. 😎 (you’re welcome for the Mean Girls reference), lol. And at minimum, both men and women Xennials will see this and open their Amazon app to check it out “just to see what it’s like..” unbeknownst to them (and me! I’m a Xennials, too!) 🤣 that this is probably the future of auto sales. THE END. 🎉😍👏
