We've been able to do this since the seventies and maybe even the sixties. If you want to know a cool one; if someone only has texting on their phone or what not or you want to save money on a payphone; the phone number is on the phone and if you know when the other person is done dialing; then even if the payphone does not ring anymore by default; they still are processing everything else like they used to. Cheers; and I used to call the phone at home in order to locate the cordless one(s). And this was in the eighties. Oh and did you know that if you are without a phone dialing that you can use; and you have everything else; you can dial by pulse action by doing it yourself manually with the hang-up button. You all must have noticed that if you pressed and depressed the hang-up button twice; you would get the operator and this is what the pulse action does ; like if you have a 5; do five shots in a row and so on; because that was exactly what your rotary used to do.
