Written and directed by Chrysovalantis Stamelos

This documentary follows a young Greek-American who leaves his corporate job in the U.S. and moves to Turkey, homeland of his great-grandparents, in an effort to reconnect with his roots in Anatolia. Unable to forget the stories he had heard as a youngster about old Smyrna and Asia Minor, he explores old neighborhoods, interviews Greeks living in Izmir and Istanbul, and immerses himself in the art and culture he encounters. More than a record of self-discovery, this wonderfully picturesque and informative film attempts to build a bridge between two peoples.

So inspirational and educational at the same time as I am learning Greek. My favorite music is Rebetiko and listen to several songs from Izmir.

Enlightening and pure magic, because the history of Greeks/ Cypriots and Turkish People, desperately needed an inspirational update. The centuries of foreigners, wealth, eclectic mix of people who grew up in Turkey or moved There for it's culture and cosmopolitan lifestyle, are the entire mix of all relations and ethnicities, cultural and religious beliefs and values.
Truly riveting and a magical journey that you All must watch, steeped in history and heart.
