>sets out to make a game
>makes game engine instead
The journey you're on is a long one, but it seems like it's well worth it, even just for the knowledge you've gained along the way. Subbed, excited to see what you come out with as you move forward!

You should give game jams a go with your engine. Might be a fun exercise in testing how well it works within specific restrictions that game jams offer. Also, you’ll get people actually playing your games.

Wait... That was your first upload? I genuinely thought you already have uploaded many videos, judging by how well made it was. Thanks for sharing the story

Wow man, you are really selling yourself short. I'm a fellow OGRE user. You have accomplished a lot in very little time. Loved the video, very funny and entertaining. Of course you earned a new subscriber.

personally, it is pretty hard for me to commit to a project, but keeping the project up for 6 years is impressive! wish you good luck in your youtube career and your own game.

Very relatable. Early projects can quickly spiral out of control and turn into multi year projects which then become sort of a life-style. Thank you for sharing your path and wishing you all the best for the future!

Phenomenal video. Couldn't relate more to my emotions with COVID, facing depression, and experiencing burnout. Your engine looks phenomenal, I would love to work with the AV engine someday.

It's both a gift and a burden to live with these kind of intense pursuits -- especially when you have to be the bottleneck for quite some time.
You see all these people around you who seem fairly content doing their day job then just enjoying entertainment and normal life fairly passively for the rest of their free time.
For the longest time I felt like I was a totally different species of human I used to envy this but then sometimes you have these same people express to you that they feel like something is missing from their life, or that they wish they had the confidence/capacity to tackle a new challenge or develop a new skill.
This made me feel much different in how I felt about things and I started to approach it from a place of my pursuits being my version of having 'fun'.

You have to find the fun dude. Take pride in what you do but find a way of finding fun within the grind.

This is an amazing journey. There are many parallels between your career and mine. I went to uni for CS and am currently working full time and when I have the energy after work, I make little projects here and there. Eventually I want to give full-time gave development a go, but I am waiting for myself to get a bit more experience ( a bit more money saved up ) before doing so. Thank you for sharing your journey, I can't wait to follow along.
