Valspar Furniture Paint Review - No Sanding

We painted some very dark cabinets with some Valspar Furniture paint and here are the results. We did NOT sand the cabinets before painting. They were just cleaned. We are very impressed.

Zinsser Bulls Eye Clear Water-Based Shellac will help reduce bleed thru when painting over those orange and red woods. I use this whenever paint light colors over dark pigment wood .

Came out looking really nice. One recommendation though, maybe put a little paste wax on the drawer slides to stop the squeaking if you don't like it.

try priming before painting. it will prevent that bleed-thru from previous paint or stain.

Why didn't you change out the door style? Inside should have been painted too

Did you use "Furniture" paint or their "Cabinet" paint? I would NOT recommend the furniture paint. I am painting a dresser and decided to try this. Put on 3 coats so far, I can still see through. I tried 2 thin coats first (like it reccomended), with a valspar brush, 55 degree weather which is in their temp range, and it had tons of brush strokes. I can still see through it. I applied a third coat thick to experiment and an hour later it had runs, streaks, ect, looked terrible. Still needs more coverage. I wouldn't spend $24 on this can. Way too expensive compared to results you can get via spraying in my opinion.

Paint the inside of the cabinet doors,  it will make a different when done.

I couldn't handle the cabinets not being painted inside, and I'd have to change all those handles, or spray them a subtle color at the very least.
