Mistakes are "funny" only when no stakes are involved. Imagine a surgeon making a mistake during surgery - it could cost a man's life. The thing about buddhism and monks is that they are sometimes so removed from the difficulties of real life because they have largely removed themselves from huge responsibilities when they enter monkhood. In fact, many become monks precisely for that reason.
