Thanks for persevering when you ran into trouble and it didn't look like it would fit. Its nice to know that things don't always go so easy for the 'pros'. And of course it shows us what to do when we do encounter that situation. Many thanks!

Thanks for explaining how to insert new rubber seal. You just made my work look easier as I was going to pay some else to do the job for me. Love it!

Thanks for another great tutorial!

I sat on the edge of my seat, waiting to see if you would struggle with excess slack! Been there with the tailgate seal a couple of times and it was a nightmare of a job... Same issue - seemingly too much slack until you reposition it a few times and find the 'sweet spot'.

I've even managed to ruin a brand new tailgate seal by tapping it on with a soft-faced mallet. That wasn't the cleverest thing I've done! Being gentle with these is important, otherwise the "U" shaped metal clips inside the rubber channel can get distorted.

A common leak with these is supposedly around the bodywork flange. There is a soft white, putty-like, mastic in the rubber's channel which is supposed to stop water wicking through the channel (around the bodywork). When I replaced the tailgate seal, I removed some dirty mastic from the body and gave the area a good clean and dry before fitting the new seal.

Great video just did this on my Skoda Octavia! One tip I can give is to use some silicone spray. Mine was stubborn and didn't want to fit properly even after some force. I lightly sprayed the inside of the seal and then it fit like a glove!

Thanks for these videos. I first tried the one to gently bend the door back into place and that worked for a while, but now the puddle's back I'm hoping to invest in a new seal and hope that works!

Thanks much Im gearing up to do my own and was curious as to what I might run into.
I guess when it comes to measuring like that a long Tailor's tape measure might be handy or even a piece of rope to go round then lie flat beside the metal tape measure for correspondence to length.

Ello Fella...

Great video as always.

I know it can be hit & miss with aftermarket parts, but generally, they're not too bad & obviously can be a lot cheaper.

Stay safe en good health to you en yours.

Glad you never cut that seal mate as i could tell it was you need to do is push against it in the opposite direction of fitment as you go around to take away any excess.
£130 quid for that is a joke and may not be the problem as water ingress could be through the crappy polystyrene seal behind the door card which was the case on my daughters car not the seal.
These cars are a nightmare with water ingress as we run 3 of them and done all the usual water leak problems and i am now considering drilling some large holes in the bottom of the doors to stop water building up inside as in the most recent diabolical weather we have had i noticed the doors on my daughters car holding a lot of water inside which you could hear swishing about when opening/closing the doors ?
Water was building up and coming through the inner door shell through the polystyrene cover and lapping down the inside of the door with water forming on top of the door seal then running into carpet ?
Cured this with some car body seam sealer smeared around the bottom of the polystyrene door cover then replaced door card and all appears good, however still not happy with the water build up inside the doors, hence why i am considering drilling a couple of holes in the bottom of the doors so the water escapes down the outer cills on the car ?
what do you reckon....Let me know your experiences with door leaks on these cars as they are a nightmare and the only negative for me owning them, otherwise cracking little motors....currently have a 2010 c1 3-door vtr+ and 2 x pug 107's both 2013 years so all keep me busy ( just put a exedy clutch in c1 vtr last week )....Keep up the good work pal, regards.

I fitted a 26mm × 17mm (same seller as descrp) door seal to the driver's door of my 3 door C1, then dried the carpet with a heater.

A few weeks later, the driver's front & rear carpet is wet again. I can see where the water is going over the top of the seal, like it was doing with the old seal.

Poured water down past the window to check the vapour barrier. No leaks there.

I'm tempted to buy one of those D or L shaped, 3M taped seals off eBay, & add an additional seal. They're dirt cheap

Thanks nice video!
Unfortunately I could not find the same sealing rubber with seam, that comes with it. Now there is a gap between the plastics and the sealing rubber. Is there any idea what I can do?

Thanks for this video, it’s a much easier job than I though. Is it the same for all cars?

Great video, thanks, my driver side footwell is absolutely sodden, how do you go about finding out where a leak may be coming from? Can rubber mats make the problem worse? I removed the rubber mat I had down, dried the carpet, it stayed dry for weeks untill i put the rubber mat back then a week later it was sodden again! in all honesty I assume it was just coincindence, my initial thought was air con evaperation pipe blockeage but i ran the aircon constantly once dry and it didnt get wet

What if I don’t have the seal yet but I only need to fill in the top middle of the drivers side…can I fill it in with something while I get the new seal???

Thank you for this really brilliant informative video, can I ask you we have the 3008 and needs both driver and passenger doors seals replaced where can we purchase these seals? And do you think 4 metres per door be sufficient? Thank you again for the amazing tutorial.

You legend. Thanks for this video. I wonder how long the boot seal is? I got to replace the onside front and boot seals.

When using aftermarket seal that’s not already joined into one piece how much extra would you leave before cutting excess off

Thank you for this!! Do you have a link or a video on a seal for the back seat windows? My seals has a chunk missing and when it goes for a car wash the water splashes in and can see daylight out of the window seal.
