Cozy Grove Documentary - A Love Letter To Cozy Gaming

I've been wanting to make something like this for a long time, and after my previous long-ish video essay on Cozy Grove I was surprised at how there is basically no long-form content on Cozy Grove, whereas there's tons surrounding other games like Spiritfarer and Animal Crossing. This game really does hold special to me, and even far moreso after getting to speak with the great passionate minds behind it. It definitely deserves to be talked about too, even if only by me.

A cozy game that actually doesn't stress you out. First picked up the game for the art and game mechanics, but stayed for the story and what the game stands for. I adore every single character in Cozy Grove and the added layer of sorrow and failures really adds to the humanness (even if they are square bears) in each of them. It's one of my most favorite indie games of all time and love seeing people spreading the feel good vibes.

I played the first game slowly over a year and enjoyed taking the slow road with great art and music and having characters and stories. I had my bee outfit and Ted just liking rocks, feeding all my animals before starting on the jobs for the day, and once I finished I missed it.
Camp spirit is going to be played slowly too. I’m gonna drag it out as long as I can so I can spend as much time within the game as possible!

Wow this is really well done! Great job. I think you covered basically all I think needed to be. I like how both you and the devs didn't just ignore and not mention that for some people it is a problem not to have Netflix and get to play and also the way that it has benefited spryfox to partner with them in this case.

This is a great introduction to the team behind the scenes. Their passion can be felt through experiencing the game, but it's also really nice to hear them express it more directly too. I've been playing the original Cozy Grove off and on since 2021 on PC and Switch, and now I feel even better about embracing it.

As a gamer for more than 35 years now (yeesh 😅), it's so refreshing and amazing to see the way the medium has shifted and grown over time. The influx of a vast diversity of genres, especially cozy inclusive ones, has been wonderful to witness. It's more important now than ever to continue to support small teams making interactive art like this.
