I’m sure Chase’s opinions and observations of the copy he tested are valid.

But, I have owned a 2019 FTR S for a couple of years now and it’s been pretty flawless on the negatives Chase mentions. Re the clutch, I might just be insensitive to it, since I have a BMW R1200GSA whose clutch seems to engage at random places in the throw, and I’ve had to calibrate my clutch hand to work not off of muscle memory, but actually feeling engagement. I’ve definitely never dealt with the surging Chase mentions, though I do think that at lower throttle, my FTR is a little “snatchy” on and off the gas.

I find the switchgear and controls, and actually pretty much every part of the bike to be of excellent quality and workmanship. Pretty much every part on the bike is solid and weighty. I will admit that I think the switchgear is a bit over-complicated: too many stalks and triggers for my liking. But Indian has made it so you can either use the touchscreen, or the joysticks and other affordances to interact with the firmware (I generally don’t screw with it anyway). My main issue has been with winter gloves: I’m constantly accidentally “flashing” the headlight due to that trigger/switch’s location.

The bike is a hoot to ride around town and in the country, though my 18” wheel version is def a bit more of a fast/powerful cruiser/poser than a hooner, but so am I (though I don’t care for actual cruiser bikes). It could be a bit more comfortable in the legs for me. As Chase mentions, the pegs are ever so slightly “snug” and I’m tucked in the legs just a little more than I’d like. Depends on the boots and pants I’m wearing as to how much it really bothers me, though.

They mostly fixed engine heat issues on the 17” wheel bikes, as I understand it. Mine will definitely cook your right thigh to a crisp on a warm day. Kind of nice in the winter though 🤡.

Every single person who has commented on the bike has talked about how it is one of the most unique and beautiful bikes out there. It is really in a class of its own, IMO, and I dig it a lot.

That FTR has a really cool and unique look to it. Almost like a power cruiser with naked sports bike characteristics. I'm digging the cool tubular swingarm, reminds me of my old S2r.

I just bought my FTR R Carbon two days ago and am absolutely loving it!

The good thing about the high price for what it is is that many people aren't buying these carbons for the full price so there are SO MANY carry overs now. You can find this exact bike brand new for like $14k now in 2024. I don't think it's worth $17k, but for $14k... hey...

This bike is amazing!!! The finest bike to ride I’ve ever rode. And at 63 I’ve rode most of them. I tell you what it’s a beast and will put a smile on your face. Get out there and have the time of your life Indian killed it. Trust me you will have a blast!!! Ride On !!!

I test rode this bike the other day and I 100% agree a quick shifter would make this bike awesome AF.

I love my 2019 FTR, Lloydz tune really helps with the throttle response.

Am I just the only one who doesnt care about the FTR? There's so many Japanese bikes that do better for a similar bike.

Beautiful bike but definitely needs some tweaking. But for $17k? PASS

Indian does have a problem, across FTR and the Scout. Only brand that's tried to kill me twice, with what seems to be a bad programming or design of power delivery under specific situations. Most of the time it was during left lean situations at two very different speeds. 45 and 7... The 7mph was an aggressive high side due what seems to be bad geometry and horrific power delivery. Complete lack of throttle response for about 0.5 to 1 second, followed by an overflood of power. Not fun... I own an Indian, Kawi, KTM, Honda, and a couple of dirt bikes. Never have I ever experienced anything like this...twice!

You son of a bitch, you found one. 😂

Hope you enjoyed the ride! 😊

Just tried a '22 tuono which had the exact same surging problem. Very unsettling that the bike never seems stable with 175 hp.
I was really considering the FTR, but it is a showstopper for me that the fuel mapping is this bad.
